If Cordy, Buffy and human Darla were in a life or death situation, and Angel could save only one of them, who would he choose.

I'd say Cordy.

I do have to agree that Buffy would seem to be the obvious choice. He'll always love her and it would seem to make sense to choose her.

But barring some brief meetings (i.e IWRY, Sanctuary, Chosen) he hasn't really spent any quality time with Buffy for about four years now, and in that time both of them have changed considerably from BtVS Season 3. Buffy is a very different person. She's a grown up, mature woman, not a naieve girl who thinks that everything has a happy ending. Angel is also very different. Still guilt ridden yes, but with a purpose to help people, do good and make up for his past

Since moving to Los Angeles, Angel's life has changed substantially. The people he works with (Wes, Cordy, Gunn, Fred) are not just his co-workers, he sees them as his family, the family that he would protect ahead of everything else.

Cordy has been a very integral, important member of that family. She has also changed from the shallow, superficial bitch she was at Sunnydale High, in to a woman who bears a great burden with the visions but accepts that burden with grace and uses it to help others, to help Angel. She's been the one that's encouraged Angel when he's felt down about the mission (Judgement), the one that wouldn't give up on him when he lost Connor (Double Or Nothing) and the one person that Angel will listen to before anyone else.

She means more to Angel that even he thought possible. His one concern in Disharmony is winning back her friendship and trust, something that means a great deal to him. In Over The Rainbow, when she is sucked through the portal, he is the one person that was willing to go in and rescue her no matter what the consequences. He says to Wes "It's Cordy" and those two little words sum up everything Angel feels about Cordelia.

She is his best friend, his humanizing influence and the one person he can trust to be honest with him I believe he truly has grown to love her over the years they've been together and i believe that he still does.

That is why i still stand by my statement that he'd choose to save Cordy. He loves and relies on her too much not to.

Buffy. It comes down to one thing: One true love. Of course he'd pick her over all of them. Thats all I have to say, no need going further into it... only that he's saved her before, she's risked his life for him (literally)... he was willing to kill Cordy so fastly in Season 4 without any thought put into it, and all he could say was "I'm sorry"?
Not with Buffy though. He sticks by her through thick and thin. No matter what. Buffy completes Angel, without Angel he would be sorta incomplete. I don't doubt for one second of one minute, he'd choose Buffy. And if he had to do it over again, he'd still choose her. Cordy is his friend, that much is true. But, he'd definitely choose his true love over a friend. I know I would. He hasn't spent quality time with Buffy, yet... he was the one to save her life in End Of Days. Right there with her, fighting side by side. "Shoulder to shoulder, I'm yours. -- Angel.
It all dates back to Reptile Boy (actually, even before Reptile Boy, it actually all dates back to the first episode, but anyway).

There are numerous other quotes to prove my theory, but yea, Buffy definitely.
 
Well said it Gin!(can I call you like that?).It is too obivous,he would save Buffy!
She is most important person for him,he would give everything for her,including his own life(Surprise),..of course he would choose her over Darla and Cordelia!
 
I don't mind people calling me by my name, so sure. Its shorter to type too. 😀
And his humanity too. Buffy was in a life or death situation in IWRY, he sacrificed his humanity for her. That was just wow!
 
i think he would save buffy because cordy slept with conner and i dont think he was too happy about that but i think he knows buffy really loves him
 
Cordy slept with Connor because she was possessed(Jasmine),..anyway,he would save Buffy(aka the love of his life,..well,unlife😛)
 
I think before he chooses, he'll do the "take me instead of them!" speech. When it all comes down to it, though, I think he would choose Buffy. Cordelia's his close friend and Darla may be his "blood kin," but his true love is Buffy and he would give up everything for her. He has proven that again and again and he'll save her... Why not? he already gave up his life in exchange for hers before.
 
out of the three options there, probably Buffy, but I think if we threw Connor in there, he'd be Angel's priority
 
I deffinetly think that it would be Buffy after all i mean she is his one true love and all. i thinkt hat Angel would sacrfice everything for Buffy and so she would be the one that he saves.
 
I'd vote for Buffy. Angel does love Cordelia and they are very close. I think realistically Angel would die to protect Cordy. But his soulmate, in my opinion is Buffy. They have always loved each other and they always seem to find a way back to each other. So if he was forced to chose between them he would chose Buffy.

I think its part of his instincts now to save Buffy. She was the only person that mattered to him for so long, she introduced him more fully into the real world and she taught him how to let others in. I think it's like the bond a child has with its parent but it goes so much deeper, it's for life and it can't be severed.
 
Definitely Buffy and all my reasons are in AngelsGirl's post so I'm not going to say all them again... 😉
 
I picked Buffy. Although I think that Angel would figure out a way to save both Buffy and Cordy. He's just cool like that! 😉
 
Well, I was all about answering Buffy until I read your arguments, PyleanPrincess. You make some very good points in favor of Angel choosing Cordelia (you're not a lawyer, are you? or maybe a Wolfram & Hart paralegal?).

What it comes down to is 1) Buffy would have a much better chance of saving herself from any given sitch than Cordy would and 2) Buffy would totally understand Angel having to help a more helpless woman (Cordy) because he's a hero, and that's what heroes do. At least the on-television kind of heroes.

So I think Angel would save Cordy. Or maybe he'd just let all three of them die and call up Drusilla for a rockin' night on the town! 😉
 
Well seeing as though Cordy has all of those powers since she became part Demon and Buffy is the slayer, he would probably try to save Darla first since she would most likely be in more danger since she is helpless and does not have any supernatural abilites.

To me it all depends on who was in the most trouble, whoever was in the most trouble Angel would try to save first.

Angel only really started to get close to Cordy in S3, they were more like friends in S1-2 or brother and sister.

Buffy may have changed but when she is around Angel she becomes like she used to be and they still have strong feelings for each other.
