This is just a random idea that's been bouncing around in my head lately, and I thought that I would toss it out here for anyone who might care to comment.

Assuming that "Buffy" had not ended after Season 7, but had, instead, lasted several more years, which actors from "Angel" do you think would have been willing to join the cast? Now, note that I said "Which ACTORS would have been willing," because this isn't about what characters you might have wanted to be on the show. Which ACTORS would have been willing to move?

I think that we can pretty much rule David out immediately, since he practically stepped off of the set of "Angel" and onto "Bones," plus moving back to "Buffy" would have been both a demotion in rank, from titular star to, at best, 2nd or 3rd costar, and a probably considerable cut in pay.

James didn't have anything else in development, so I think that he might have done it. Of the other cast members on "Angel," the only ones with any connection to "Buffy" were Charisma and Alexis, so they might have gone back in some capacity. Being dead or a Higher Being wouldn't be any sort of deterrent in the Whedonverse.

As for anyone else from "Angel's" cast, maybe a guest shot or even a recurring role (maybe Connor and Dawn could have met and connected well enough for him to stop by occasionally) or Illyria might want to keep tabs on her "pet."

Can anyone else imagine Lorne running the Bronze or Gunn opening up a small law practice in Sunnydale?

I think everyone but David could have been talked into having their character return to or move to Sunnydale. I'd bet some of the supporting cast would have been nervous about how much storyline and screen time their characters would receive but for the right price I don't think they would have walked away from the show.

I agree with brinkster130 that although possibly nervous about what screen time they would get, pretty much every actor would jump at the chance to continue working regularly and have a steady, large income.

While the actors themselves would probably want to keep working I don't think everyone should go over. Although Amy Acker seems to be one of Joss' favourites, so he probably wouldn't see her out of work for long, I wouldn't see much point in bringing her over. The cast of AtS (minus David) moving over to BtVS would leave a frontline, combat-ready Scooby Gang of Buffy, Willow, Spike, Faith newly-activated-Slayer Dawn and Illyria. That's not a Sccoby Gang, that's The Avengers! 😱

You'll have to drop Faith from that roster. Eliza was in "Tru Calling." But I bet Kennedy would have been glad to fill in, since she and Willow were an item anyhow.

Not a Kennedy fan? Imagine that.....

I don't know how many I would want to move back over to Buffy, but yeah I can't see anyone not already committed to something else (or with other offers at least) not going back.

It's like Brett Farve un-retiring.

"Hey wanna come play football for $10M?"
--"Heck yeah!"
"Wanna come back again for $5M?"
--"Yup I'm still coming back"
"How about $250,000 a year even?"
--"Better than nothing; I'm there!"
