Who would win?

I'm pretty sure I started this game about 16 years ago so I think I'm safe to try again...

I always loved the fighting scenes in Buffy and Angel and often thought about who the best fighters are. I realise some situations are difficult due to the context (e.g. Angel was clearly portrayed as weaker in BtVS compared to his own show) but I would like to hear people's ideas on this.

My game is that somebody posts two characters from the universe and the next poster has to decide who would win in a battle and explain why - either based on evidence of an actual interaction between the two or previous fight scenes. They can then give their two new names for the next person to discuss. Season context is optional, e.g Cordelia from BtVS s1 or Angel s3.

My first two names are:

Sure, Kendra is a Slayer, and if catches Gunn by surprise, he doesn't stand a chance. (But why would she? She knows a vampire when she sees one, the mistake over Buffy not withstanding when she thought there could only be one Slayer.)

Gunn knew he was at a disadvantage, which is why he had weapons and a krew (even removing his krew, his truck would be enough to cancel a Slayer). Once Kendra showed her strength, they'd assume vampire or demon.

Those same weapons that take out vampires also take out humans, and he has as many followers dedicated to the cause as Kendra is, and also more creative. Kendra didn't seem to the type to run and regroup, and in this case, that would be very bad for her.


Since someone beat me before I got to the end, I won't list the next death battle.

I would have disagreed with your choice but the reasoning behind this was really good.
Harmony

Wesley in S3 is completely incapable. The implication in Angel is that he does have some ability, but he is mostly the equivalent of a wet dishrag (or as Giles so eloquently put it, “blueberry scone”) in Buffy. I figure he may hold her at bay at best, but eventually he’d fumble it and she would jump him. Harmony isn’t the most capable person, but she’s more capable than Wesley used to be.

Would they fight or just flirt?
I'm torn on this, but I feel like S3 Willow would edge it. Both were intelligent and would probably find a create way to win, but I think Willow's experience of battles and her interest in the magic would have edged it. Although she wasn't the witch we saw in S7, she was able to restore Angel's soul in S2 when the pressure on her and I think she would have brought something out of her 'bag of tricks' if under the same pressure.

Let's see...what are your thoughts on this one?

Wesley. While both of them have killed humans at this point, Wesley is just more ruthless. Not to mention, he'd most likely have a gun on him

S7 Buffy vs S7 Faith
 
I think Buffy would always win (despite Faith being one of my favourite characters). I think Faith was stronger but Buffy was more resourceful and smarter...plus, Faith had a few years away so her progression was halted.

Faith seems stronger but Kendra is more agile/better trained. Interesting Buffy uses the dirty 'chick-fight' thing against them both and it works both times! But whilst Buffy/Faith in 'Revelation' was a pretty close match Buffy/Kendra in 'What's My Line Pt 1' was pretty one sided in favor of Buffy.


Overall Faith does better against Buffy (who uses her emotions in a fight) than Kendra did so I'd give it to her, but it would be pretty close. Kendra would be unconscious but Faith would have a good knock or two and be pretty grumpy.

...Unless its Rogue-Slayer Faith in later episodes S3, then its not even close; that Faith is crazy-bad news for a by-the-book slayer. Bye Kendra.

Definitely unsouled + chipped Spike especially with the chip viewing Conner as non-human 🧛

Trish vs. Joyce? Please, the Burkles have Oz level mental flexibility. The supernatural is real, go hit it with a truck. Trish also owns at least one gun and a CDL. Trish FTW.
