If Helen of Troy was so beautiful she had the face that launched a thousand ships, which actress who might be mentioned in this Whedonverse forum would you cast as Helen in a Helen of Troy movie?

I voted for Other, I would choose Jessica Alba, I think she is the hottest women alive! Although Morena would be a close second!

Part of the game though, is you have to show a Whedonverse connection. Kind of like 6 degrees of Whedon/Helen, except it's more like 2 degrees, because there should be whedon connection like Stephen S Deknight wrote for BTVS, but now he's at Smallville, as is James Marsters, so...Kristin Kreuk.

And no, I'm not sending this to Slaying Practices. 🙂 It's not really a game. More an intellectual exercise involving Whedonverse connections.

Charisma Carpenter. She is the most beautiful woman in the world. Okay so maybe I'm exagerrating a little bit.

Okay and here's the connection to Jessica Alba. SMG played Buffy in BtVS and she was also in Scream 2 with David Arquett. David was in Never Been Kissed with Jessica Alba. Did I do that right??

I voted other. I'm gonna say Sarah Carter(and yes, PoU, i can connect her to the whedonverse)
Sarah Carter was Alicia in Smallville, James Marsters was in it too, which gives her the whedon connection.

Not exactly. I was thinking more something like what Wesley WP did. You know, like you could see Sarah Carter's name being mentioned in a Smallville post in Whedonverse.

On the other hand that connection to Jessica Alba was pretty entertaining, and there's no doubt she is sizzling hot, so what the heck...enjoy yourself. I'll shut up now. :freak:

I'd say Morena. She'd definitely launch a thousand Greek ships, with that gorgeous Mediterranean-esque look, yup.

Oops ok my mistake I kinda missed that hole Whedon relation thing, but nice one VisionGuy!! But with the Whedon connection I would choose Morena!

I voted Charisma even though I think SMG is much more beautiful. I just find with her long dark wavy hair and big eyes and skin CC would truly fit the bill..or maybe I just can't get the image of her all dolled up in Pylea out of my head *shrugs* 😀

Hmmm, this is rather like a game isnt it.

Anyway, honestly i think these women are all beautiful in their own right but none of them come close to the beauty i expect of Helen of Troy.

Infact, I can't think of anyone in the Movie world that could come close to my perception of this regal beauty.

It would have to be someone with Olive Skin, Brown or Dirty Blonde Hair.
Perfect Skin, flawless complextion. The perfect figure with curves in the correct places. No Freckles or blemishes.

Deep warm eyes, perfect brown surrounded by the crisp white.

I couldnt pick one actress from the list because each has certain flaws that i'd find couldn't launch a 1000 ships.

Morena Baccarin. Olive skin regal beauty.....what more can i say..?
(Jesse i love your banner!)

She hasn't got regal beauty.
She is a beautiful woman, but there is nothing unique about that.
She doesnt have that special spark to lift her above the average beautiful woman, she is one amongst many.
Regal beauty, princess like, its sort of an inner glow, you know you would die for this woman, and i'm sure that there are some crazed fans out there that would say that about Morena, but not that many and those are stalkers(probably lying about it).
The only unique quality Morena has is her name.

none of the names on this list have that.

I think you are charging her with a task more than is required of her DDLM, Helen does not need to launch 1000 ships or even 10, she only needs to hold the hearts of two men. One that would risk his very life to have her, and one that would move mountains and cross oceans to have her back. Perhaps great beauty would inspire you to do such, but I am certain that while Helen was beautiful, she was not perfect. She was loved, she was desired, she was probably a pretty kick ass chic, but she was not perfect I'm sure. I am sure a few of these women could act the part in such a way as to make the audience believe that she was worth the desire, affection, and love that it would take these two men to cross one stupid body of water to be with her.

Good points
According to the Greek Legend Helen of Troy was the most Beautiful Woman in the World. She was perfection, she had all the qualities i described, because its those inate qualities that made her this most desired woman. She was indeed flawless.
So no, i'm not charging anyone with a task more than is required of her.
The names on the list, although beautiful, lack that something special, that something to push them up to this(obviously unattainable) level.
They are one beauty among many, they, in cases, lack the unique qualities of grace, regality, beauty and power.

The "world" was smaller then, legends lie. Beauty is a relative term, helen was perfection in comparison to her surroundings. All I am arguing is that with the right lighting and artistry, I am certain Helen could be made flesh. Since you said in the movie world you could think of no one to play her, do you have another in mind, a model perhaps?

Its not actually about the world being smaller back then. She was probably not as unique as she is made out, the point is whoever does take on a role of this magnitude has millenia of 'Most Beautiful person to exist' or 'flawless' to live up to and none on this list, in my opinion, have enough of what they do have to do any justice to Helen.

No, actually i have seen no one that could come near to Thousands of years of hype, its almost like casting 'God', there will always be something missing from the final choice, even if on some levels we enjoy aesthetically and mentally even humourously the person portraying this person.
I can be 100% sure that if Helen of Troy came walking through the door thanx to some magical time travel device, even she couldnt live upto this image.
She is supposed to be the ultimate in beauty, grace, regality no one could be that.

Maybe she could be a dark beauty with intense brown eyes and coal coloured hair, with olive skin that has a golden hue to it and an inner regal beauty plus her charm would be infectuos....she doesn't have to be blonde. Her features would be very strong and yet gentle.....???

her imadge doesn't seem to match the ones given though but i voted cos they were the options given.
