Who would you consider a Scoobie?

Of course you would have the original quatro (4). But the question is, who would you consider a Scoobie? This can be the original 4, plus anyone else.

Pretty much anyone who knows what's going on and consistently helps with research, etc. At least until S7; I don't think the Potentials quite count as Scoobies. And after S7, the whole Scooby gang kind of falls apart anyway. But that's purely based on my feelings about the matter and not any kind of empirical evidence or anything.

For certain periods of time i would consider...Angel, Cordy, Oz, Anya, Tara and Dawn Scoobies. I don't think Spike or Riley were ever really intiated as fully fleged members

I added in BB...well just cuz we deserve to be scoobies!

i forgot to mention that you can say what season you believe the person is a scoobie (ex: faith-season 7).

as a side note, i think another glitch in the new website upgrades is that i already had feedback on this thread before i posted the poll. i think its cause the site asks you for a title and message BEFORE it asks for poll data.

the Originals, of course, plus Oz, Tara, Anya, Dawn, and, on occasions, Faith, Spike and Cordelia.

i never really considered Angel and Riley to be part of the Scoobies.
Angel because he was too much of a loner when he was in Sunnydale, too much time spent on his own, he got used to that. i think his time with the Scoobies helped him learn how to work with others, prepared him for being part of the team in LA, but i defintely wouldn't consider him a Scoobie.

and Riley because he was too much of an outsider. he was, techincally, working for the enemy, the others didn't trust him enough to fully accept him as part of the gang. even Buffy herself kept things from him when her mom was sick.

Edit:

Spike or Riley were ever really intiated as fully fleged members

Spike was part of the Scoobies when it suited him, or when he thought he could be useful. for example, when Buffy was 'gone' and he was patrolling with the others, or looking after Dawn. also, in S7 when he had his soul, i felt that he was part of the team.

something he mentions in LA when he was asking Angel what theire name was makes me think that he thought himself part of the gang.

"So, what are we called? Just tell me we're not The Scoobies."

not a perfect quote, as i can't remember it off hand, but you get the idea.

Like you said about Angel I always felt Spike was on the edge of the group, there but never quite a Scoobie. I think our shipperness may have something to do with this!LOL

I don't see how Dawn/Tara are considered Scoobies ??? Tara was on the outside of nearly everything for 80% of when she was on the show. Dawn was Buffy's sister, so she had to be there, Buffy even said a few times she didn't want Dawn in the thick of things, and that didn't really change until season 7. So both of them were maybe scoobies for a very short time.

If someone can explain to me a bit better how they are, I'm sure I'd agree 😀

i think that dawn is a scoobie because she WAS in the thick of things. buffy didnt want her to be, but she always was (chalk one up for the hollywood writers).

the same goes for tara. she didnt mean to be in the thick of things, but she was. plus, her heart was always with the scoobies. she wanted to be one more than anything.

there is nothing more stronger than the heart of a volunteer.

did i convince you? its hard to convince a god ;-)

maybe :D
I voted for he following members: Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, Dawn, Oz, Anya, Tara, and Spike. The core 4 are obvious inclusions. I added Dawn because I think she was so much in the thick of things from season 5 on that I just couldn't help but include her. She was definitely part of the family, and the scoobies were a family. That's why, in the end, I added Spike. I hesitated about that, but I think that he was part of the family, too. He was the black sheep, but he was part of it. The same goes for Anya and Tara. They were scoobies by marriage (even though no one really got married). lol.

I really hesitated about including Oz. He was in the thick of things during high school, but he missed a LOT when he decided to leave. And then he never came back. It seems like maybe he wasn't in it for the greater good so much as he was just for Willow and help with the wolf problem. Other fringe members did seem to really want to help, regardless of ulterior motives or romantic entanglements. Anya, Tara, and Spike still all eventually made efforts to help or to be friends with or part of the group even when they were on the outs with their respective love interests.

I didn't include any of Angel's gang, though, because I see that crew as entirely separate.

angels gang is separate. maybe we should start a new thread on that one?!
ok, so am i frustrated much? i posted but then my crappy boyfriends laptop stuffed up and it got lost!
basically the gist of my lost post was something along the lines with agreeing with Blondie Bear in the sense that a scooby should be someone who is consistently helping for their own reasons, not just because their boyfriend or girlfriend is part of the team.
which is why, corefour aside, i voted for anya and tara.
anya because she always seemed to have the right information (both magical and about demons) due to her demon background. and even after her and xander split and she turned into a demon she couldnt help but still help the other scoobies.
tara because she had the magical knowledge and on more than one occasion used it without willows help to try and save the day... (imagine if she hadnt picked that buffy was actually faith!)... also buffys inclusion of her in family seems to cement her as a scooby.
i really should have voted for dawn (at least season 7 dawn) but just couldnt bring myself to do it due to season 5 and 6 dawn... but really if i was a better person i would have.

The fact people can say Tara is more scooby then Oz is funny to me ^_^ They accepted Oz almost instantly.. It took Tara a few 'Seasons' 😀 I always thought of Oz as a scooby and never thought of Tara as one. Eh, Myabe I just think Oz is a scooby because he was such a great character and I never thought that about Tara. Maybe you all don't think Oz was a scooby because yes, he was there every single time with them, but once Willow broke his heart/Vice versa he left and then came back and again had to leave again because he couldn't be around her. I still think he was a scooby though, he did want to be a part of the group and might have stayed if he didn't have the whole 'omg I go wolf If I'm near Willow..or Tara' ^_^

But I can see how you can see Tara as a scooby she was there for a few seasons, aswell as Dawn

I think they understood Oz more. It doesn't mean Tara didn't contribute. I think the other Scoobies were a little uncomfortable about Willow being gay, and maybe, on some level, blamed Tara for it. It's possible that that's why it took them so long to warm up to her, and I don't think Xander ever did. Of course, Xander has a history of trying to make the women in his life his harem and not liking anyone else being with them. But Dawn loved Tara and Buffy trusted her, and we all know Willow's opinion, so if those three think Tara's a Scooby, who are we to deny her?

good point about xander and 'his girls' maybe thats why anya was accepted over everyone else.
The only actual official Scoobies were the original three: Giles, Xander, and Willow. The Scoobies were the team supporting the Slayer, so Buffy by definition could not be a Scoobie. Cordy, Oz, Jenny, Tara, Angel, Spike, and all the rest were just sidekicks, either of one of the official Scoobies, or the Slayer. The Scoobies are the team that was introduced in Season 1, Episode 1, and were the same ones in Season 7, Episode 22.

Hmm... you do make a convincing argument.
I said the obvious four and then I added Dawn, Anya, Angel, Tara, and Oz. Even though I love Spike I just don't feel that he was ever really a scoobie because he was just so closed off from the others except for Buffy. I mean yeah he helped out but only really when Buffy wanted him to. I think that the others were really there and would have helped any member of the group if they needed it.

It doesn't mean Tara didn't contribute. I think the other Scoobies were a little uncomfortable about Willow being gay, and maybe, on some level, blamed Tara for it. Of course, Xander has a history of trying to make the women in his life his harem and not liking anyone else being with them.

I believe Tara was a Scooby. She was always invited to meetings and while she was not a "best friend" to Buffy and Xander, she was still a loved friend who was welcomes by Buffy and Xander, especially after Family. They went to her for advaice (Buffy in Dead Things, Xander in After Life) they joked with her (Buffy -talking about classes in college- in Triangle -inviting her to her birthday party- in Older and Far Away. Xander -hiding behind Tara in a cute way- in Triangle and some little cute events between them.)

I never saw that Xander hated Tara or didn't warm up to her. I think he liked her just fine, was pissed at Warren for killing her, even Tara liked him. "Xander is a sweetie." Xander inculding Tara politely to his favorite girls circle, taking Willow to visit Tara's grave.

I agree. I think Tara was a welcome addition to the group.
Who do I consider a scoobie? The corefour of course, Tara, Anya, and even Oz.

I had a hard time with Oz, because as someone said earlier, he missed alot after he left. And once he left the gang really weren't just friends anymore, they were more of a family. Which is kinda who I consider scoobies. I always looked as Oz and Cordelia as 'slayerettes', which I know is the same thing as a scoobie so don't shoot me. But, when I think of the scoobies, I think of the corefour with Tara and Anya (Maybe Dawn since she was part of their lil family).

It puzzles me why some people don't see Tara as part of the gang. From "Family" onwards, everyone accepted her. They still didn't always get her, but they accepted her into the gang. Dawn loved her (I think she kinda took over the sister role once Buffy was gone), Buffy obviously trusted her (going to her about Spike and no one else), and I don't think any one of the gang ever had a problem with her.

Also as someone said earlier, Anya, Tara, as well as Oz were scoobies by marriage (though there was no succesful wedding). However, Anya and Tara still stuck around even after they had broken up with Xander and Willow, where Oz did not. Which I know he would go a wolfie if he did, but this is just the way I see it. Oz was just a friend, where the others are more of a family.
