Both women are powerful characters but who would you feel more safer at your side to protect you?

Buffy Summers
or
Willow Rosenberg - pre-Dark Willow (Season 4-5 Willow)

I'm going with Buffy. I trust her to keep me safe. She has a good track record. Buffy is pretty good at thinking on her feet. What happens if Willow if doesn't have her magic, Buffy still has her strength. Lol

Umm, for the sake of the argument, I will assume were talking about both of them in s5. (cause dam, by s7 I'm not sure I want either them to protect me!)

So on one side, we have Buffy, who is debatably at her strongest in s5 (before the depression, and with the big sister "I will do anything for you" mentality). On the other side, you have Willow, who might not be at her strongest in s5, but she's at her sane-est, and she did not even hesitate to confront Glory when it came to protecting Tara.

Assuming that both Buffy and Willow like me enough to actually protect me, I think I would pick Willow. After all, it is true that she was the closest to stalling Glory, she's got the smarts, she's got some mad computer skills, and she managed to keep everyone safe while Buffy broke down and became completely useless. As far as track record goes, hers is better than Buffy's in s5.

Buffy, because I don't trust Willow and her magic to protect me 😛
So, slayer power>spells

I'm going to go with Willow based pretty much entirely on the episode "Blood Ties"
If someone crazy powerful and seemingly unkillable is trying to get me, Willow can at least teleport them the hell away from me.

I'd feel pretty safe with season 5 Buffy too though, I definitely think she's at her best.

Personally, I'd feel safest with scary veiny Willow. I mean, there's nothing that can stop her - not a slayer, not a witch coven, not a maniac with an axe - add teleportation and healing powers and really, it's a full package. Well, OK, there's Xander. I'm not sure I could take him out, I'm not a violent person, have none of his combat experience but there's no way in hell that fatass could ever outrun me. So yeah.

Season 5 only? I saw Glory beat the crap out of Buffy. I also saw glory fall from the sky when she tried to beat the crap out of Willow. Do the maths. No, I mean, teleportation is basically an I win ability, it trumps everything else.

I don't feel like it's even a contest - Buffy, definitely. Even if Willow could protect me, she'd never let me forget it. lol 😀

Oh, this. So much this.

Seriously, for me, there's not even a question. I don't trust Willow as far as I can throw her - which isn't even that far! Even in her pre-darkness days, I think Willow is very selfishly motivated and I don't trust her enough to put herself in harms way to save someone she doesn't know. Buffy would do it in a heartbeat.

To be fair, they both fail at protecting the ones they love, so I would tend towards hiding in the woods. Willow doesn't protect Tara from being brain sucked despite loving her deeply and Buffy has to die to reverse her letting Dawn be bled for the ritual. Though, if push came to shove I would go with the girl who can create force fields. I suppose it depends on the threat.

This is why I would choose Buffy... Saving people is her job, her destiny... Willow helps out when she can and uses magic for her own gain. Buffy uses her slayer powers to save, well, anyone.

So much Willow-whacking lol.
I know she's had her bad spells (intended), but I highly doubt that if she was walking down the street and saw an innocent person being attacked she'd just conjure herself a smoothie and keep walkin'. I admit she can be selfish, but come on, she's not that bad 😛

I didn't say she would do anything like that.

But I honestly doubt that, if she saw someone in the street being attacked, she would step in to help. I don't know if it's a selfish thing or a residual underlying fear response, but I think there is something in Willow that prevents her from being truly selfless and self-sacrificing. There is always a motive behind Willow's actions, even if it' something like making sure she makes it out alive.

Man, I can't say that I agree with this. Allow we to jump to Willow's defence somewhat. This is from S3's 'Choice's:

WILLOW: Actually, this isn't about you. Although I'm fond, don't get me wrong, of you. The other night, getting captured and all, facing off with Faith... things just got kind of clear. I mean, you've been fighting evil here for about three years, and I've been helping out some, and now we're supposed to be deciding what we wanna do with our lives and I realized that's what I want to do. Fight evil. Help people. I think it's worth doing, and I don't think you do it 'cause you have to. It's a good fight, Buffy, and I want in."

In fact really no other Scooby crystallizes their motivations in such a manner, especially not at the tender age of 17/18. So yeah, later on Willow screws up, goes after the power, goes bad and so forth but going back to Sunnydale in S7 was one of the most selfless things she ever did.
Putting herself and her humanity at risk to go and help her friends (who she didn't even know would welcome her back after she tried to kill them) took some doing. And also traveling to LA, battling evil-Cordelia just because somebody picked up the phone to ask? I really don't think Willow is as 'what's in it for me' as is being depicted.
Is she as selfless as Buffy? Well Buffy is motivated by her slayer duty, she was chosen but Willow has a choice and she helps anyway. That's pretty cool of her. 🙂

She's willing to literally GO BOOM in the finale of season 9.

But I honestly doubt that, if she saw someone in the street being attacked, she would step in to help.

Let me get this straight. We have a person here who fights evil, saves lives, risks her own on a daily basis. A person who, despite getting seriously hurt, kidnapped, attacked too many times to count, despite losing her lovers, her friends, her very sanity on occasion continues to fight evil instead of studying at Oxford/writing software in Silicon Valley/learning magic with the best covens in the world for example for what, almost 15 years now and you're saying that she would just, what, ignore a stranger in need? Like, I can't even imagine the thought process here, what I almost got killed last Friday, hunting vampires so they don't kill innocent people but here's an innocent person being attacked by a vampire - you know what, screw that loser, I'm gonna get a mocha!

I...I can't. Here's a picture of Alyson Hannigan dressed as a parrot:

For me it's Buffy as well. I just trust her more. I also think she has a more pragmatic approach and I trust her motivations for doing the things she does a lot more.

Buffy guys... no question about it. I think that her but kicking ability gradually grows through the seasons. Willow has the best character transformation of the series... but she is no butt kicker. She is support. Buffy would save me from any apocalypse any day of the week
