Buffy and Faith are both Slayers, but each has her own style, and we can even see it in their fighting. So I'm not asking who's a better person or who's a better character or who you like more. But who's better as a Slayer and why?
 
Buffy, she uses her Slayerpower only to help other people. Faith abuses her power. So Buffy really understood what it means to be a Slayer and I think it's very heroic to help others if you could do other bad things with it instead.
 
In the TV show, I found Buffy to be a better slayer. I mean she nearly slayed Faith at graduation... But, really, I just found her to be better balanced and more capable. The entire show is focused on her journey as a slayer though, so I'd say I am biased in that respect. I think that in the comics (which I don't read, mind you) that Faith could have the opportunity and time to become a more balanced person, which I think would make her more than just a vampire/demon killing machine and therefore a more capable slayer.
 
Buffy.

For me Faith, though skilled, had that 'act first, think later' thing going on which eventually could have gotten her into trouble she couldn't get out of.
Buffy, though perhaps lacking Faith's raw 'passion' for the hunt/slaying, was all around a more capable Slayer in terms not only of skill but also ability to assess the situations.
 
There is no "better." Just different. They're two halves of the same whole, after all.
 
Couldnt possibly choose - my two favourite characters! Though of course Faith abused her powers in a way Buffy never did, as Buffy maintained fighting the good fight. Faith abandoned her calling for a while as she slipped into darkness. As a fighter, im not sure - both are very strong.

Its worth noting though that Faith is the only Slayer that hasn't died! haaa Sure, Buffy's sacrifice in The Gift came from a love that Faith had never experienced so I don't know whether that fact weighs in on whether she was the better slayer. As I said both are extremely resourceful, strong and have great individual styles!

I think Buffy was definitely a better slayer. Faith was good in terms of fighting and killing vampires, but she didn't take it seriously enough and found it more like a game. Buffy did it because it was her fate and destiny, and she had to do it for the world, when Faith did it for fun, and took advantage of her power like by shoplifting.
