We are voting based on the which actors are the best at their trade, not based on which characters we like the most. I'm including some notable characters as well as the mainstay characters of the show.

I've been watching alot of interviews lately, and a few of the actors really impress me with how UNLIKE they are to their characters. On the other hand, some seem quite similar to their characters, but are capable of potraying an incredible variety of emotions. I'll keep my picks to myself for the moment though. 😉

Alexis Denisof and David Boreanaz are both amazing on Angel since they both change personalities so often. I thought James Marster was great at playing insane Spike earlier this year. All have done great work, that's just who was on my mind at the moment.

I vote for Alexis because he actually is amazing at acting and he's so underrated...

James Marsters is great too,but he's much better at creating chemistry with something than acting

I'm gonna have to go with the cliche and vote for Sarah. 🙂 She's played Buffy flawlessly. I have never seen a character as rich as Buffy is, and Sarah has a lot to do with that.

I had to go with Alyson. Her character has changed so much since we first met her. She's played shy and innocent Willow, Willow in love w/ Oz and Tara (as a lesbian), heartbroken Willow, vampire Willow, new and not-so-shy college Willow, junkie Willow, and of-course evil witch Willow. And of course she was great in all these roles.

My vote also went to Alyson, it was such a hard decision as they are all fab!!! It was difficult voting for just one.

SMG for sure! How many times have you experienced huge degrees of emotions with regards to her relationship with Angel, her friendship with the Scoobies, even when you didn't like what Buffy was doing SMG really got you involved. Even if you loved or hated Buffy SMG took you with her on the Buffy ride.

But also have to mention that Alyson is a VERY close second!

These are the best three:
Clare Kramer (Glory)
Emma Caulfield (Anyanka)
Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers)

Alyson, as her character Willow changed so much over the years and next to Buffy she played Michelle in American Pie and whats-her-name in "Beyond City Limits" which were entirly different characters!

Apologies for the mistake calling Wesley: 'Westley'. Too late to edit now 😉

It is pretty hard to chose between a few of them for sure. I'm having a little trouble deciding between James Marsters, SMG and possibly Alexis. Clare Kramer is a big favorite with me as well, and not just because she is the personification of all that I want in a woman. 8D

Mine are -

Female;
Eliza Dushku (Faith)
Alexa Davalos (Gwen Raiden)
Julie Benz (Darla)
SMG (Buffy Anne Summers)
Emma Caulfield (Anyanka/Anya)
Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg)
Claire Kramer (Glory/Glorificus)

Male;
Spike (James Marsters)
Doyle (Glenn Quinn)
OZ (Seth Green)
Wesley (Alexis Denisof)
Angel (David Boreanaz)
Lorne/The Host (Andy Hallet)

LoL
Way to narrow it down. 🙂 I originally intended on leaving Gwen on the list but discovered you can only allow for 22 options - which is probably overkill in a poll anyway. I figured we just haven't seen as much of her as the other characters.

i chose David Boreanaz
it was out of him and James M but chosse DB
so JM is second
then id hav to say ASH
and then SMG

I thing James and Juliet are the best actors. David is just.....blagh.....at first I thought it was just his character but than I saw Valentine and knew it was him (Hes not a great actor) BUT I STILL LOOOOOVVVVEEEEE ANGEL!!!!!!!!!! ^_^ Hes one of my favorite characters.
I tink Alison is a GREAT actress and I also think SMG gets my vote.

But James and Juliet win (Even it I voted for James)

Oh and on Angel I think Vincent (Connor) would get my Vote!!!

Unbiasdly, I would have to say Sarah Michelle Gellar. Alyson is good, but I really believe that Sarah Michelle Gellar had a huge part in making the show what it is today and carrying it adn I doubt Alyson could do that. Sarah also has a great range. Compare Kathryn to Buffy to Helen to Daphne! She plays all of those characters flawlessy and they are all very different. She just adds so much depth into her character and puts so much of herself into it, you can tell. Plus, she wins mostly for her ability (IMO) to show raw emotion, which is incredibly difficult for even the best of actors. You can see it in her eyes that she holds nothing back. However, I think once Michelle Trachtenberg gets more experience she could surpass SMG. I think she has so much potential and could become one of the best actresses ever, seriously.

Third would have to be ALexis. He has a great range and is just awesome.

However, probably unbiasedly, the best actress ever is Lucy Lawless. Yeah, I hear ya'll laughing, but she is a great actress.

Alyson, definitely. She portrayed Willow going from a shy nerd, to a confident Wicca to being really evil.
