Why all the Kennedy Haters?

I'm not sure but I don't think she did. But does that really matter? I mean, a little, yes.. But she made it clear that she cared very much about her, she said stuff that meant that.. sort of. They weren't together that long (on the show), and a lot of important stuff happened at that time. I mean, the show didn't really focus on their relationship, so even if she did tell Kennedy that.. I mean, she could have, although they never showed it in those few episodes.. Eh..

Yea... My latest thought about the Willow/Kennedy "thing" is that Kennedy is possibly a rebound... I mean... It just didn't have much time to grow into anything else... Joss said that he put Kennedy with Willow because "its about time someone endind with a girlfriend" or something to that matter. It just really doesn't sit well with me... No matter how many times I watch season 7...

I don't know... Well, I guess if Willow is happy, that's all that matters.

But I still say she'd be happier with Tara 😀

Sometimes it seemed to me that Kennedy fufilled Willow's physical needs as a way to help her move on from Tara's death. I'm not sure if I see them working out in the long end, but they obviously were together for atleast a little while because Andrew had stated that they were still together during one of his appearances on Angel's 5th Season.

Yea... I agree with the physical need... And to move on from Tara... I mean... Tara was so much like Willow was while she was in High School... Shy and unsure of herself... Willow sort of grew out of that... And she became for Tara, what Oz was to her... In the sense that she helped Tara out of her shell... And when Tara died... She seemed to need help out of her shell again... And that's what Kennedy did for her...

Wow! It's amazing how many people don't want to accept the possibility that Willow and Kennedy's relationship was serious.

If Kennedy was nothing more than a rebound following Tara's death, don't you think that their relationship would have ended after "Get It Done"? And despite the fact that Willow and Kennedy were still together after a year (according to Andrew in AtS's "Damage"), people are still calling the relationship a rebound. I never realized how unpopular Kennedy was . . . until now.

There are some people, that you can be with for a while, but never get serious about. The length of a relationship isn't really a precise indicator on how deep the feelings of a relationship are. I've known people to stay with their significant other for almost 2 years, but never feel the spark of love, they stayed because they were having a good time, but it was never deep.

I wouldn't say I hate Kennedy... I mean, to me it is disrespectful to Tara's memory that Willow found love so soon. I think I'm more heart-broken about the fact that Joss had contemplated the fact of bringing Tara back. I for one, would have loved that.
tara was meant to come back.. but she was going to be evil🙁 thats why amber did'nt come back.. she felt that it was wrong for tara....robia la morte done the same thing(but this time for religious feelings)jenny was supposed to come back evil but she refused because of her beliefs?

The Tara that was supposed to come back evil was an incarnation of Tara as the First in CWDP. Just wanted to clear that up as there is another thread about Buffy being granted a wish in which she brings good Tara back 🙂

I do not think are there are any predefined limits on how long a relationship must remain intact for it to not be considered a "rebound" one.

It's hard for fans of Willow and Tara's relationship to accept Kennedy because Willow and Tara had such a great thing going. And not to mention that they seemed like soul mates.

Yes after Tara's death it's reasonable to say that Willow should move on. She should not live in the past. But sometimes after a great relationship ends, you turn to someone completely wrong and the opposite of what you truly want/wanted before/had before.

Then factoring in how much a pain in the butt Kennedy was, it is easy to see why most people don't like her. She never gave the respect she should have but yet she acted as if she commanded some respect. Trying to give orders or judging Buffy's actions, when she had no real experience what so ever.

A rebound relationship could last all your life. And I do think that Kennedy is rebound for Willow. In my personal opinion, Kennedy just isn't good enough for Willow. Willow needs someone who is understanding, kind and loving... and I saw none of that in Kennedy.

That girl better be lucky she has that slayer strength now because she's likely to make someone extremely upset. Personally if I was Buffy I would have took the scythe upside her head, but thats a different story for a different audience... eh, my Buffy-related therapist.

I think that Kennedy is more Willow's type than Tara ever was. Tara was a doll who only got interesting when she fighting Willow and her magic addiction.

I disagree with Tara not being Willows type... Yes, I think she started to get more interresting only when they were fighting about Magicks.... But that was because Tara was finally TRULY hurt by Willow, and thus showing how much love she had for her, like she said in All The Way... The only reason she wasnt sitting back and letting Willow do her Magicks was because she loved her so much...

When I first watched Season 4, and their earlier encounters, I thought myself that they didn't mesh too well... It just seemed like they were both too quiet... There would be no initiative... But when I watched closely, and saw that there was MUCH more to the two than sexual needs... It showed me that there was something more than I'd seen before... Their relationship was made to seem different than anyone elses, as they were primarily drawn together by the Magicks... Watch the episode Who Are You from Season 4... And pay particular attention to the spell that Tara and Willow cast in order to see what's wrong with Buffy... Then tell me that Tara and Willow weren't meant for each other 😀

Two people can absolutely adore one another but not be right for each other or one just not right for the other.

They were not right for each other. Willow needs someone who is strong, opionated and willing to speak up, and so many more things that were totally opposite of Tara.

I don't think that's really what she needed at all... I mean... That is totally based on the whole "opposites attract" deal... Willow didn't need someone who could over-power her, and speak-up for her... She can do that for herself, thanks to Tara... In my opinion... Tara made Willow everything that you described in something that she needed.

Strength? Let's talk about that then. Let's talk about true strength in unity.

Let's start with Hush. Tara and Willow are trapped, seemingly helpless. They clasp hands - a determined, knowing look on Tara's face. The coke machine flies across the room and blocks the door.

Ok now let's fast forward to Get it Done. Willow does the same kind of unite the power thing with Kennedy. Kennedy, freaks and goes all scaredy cat.

Tara was tough, maybe not bold or agressive, but tough. Kennedy was a weenie.

Yea! I knew I wasn't alone! You rock!

Tara was Willows soulmate... And always will be... I don't HATE Kennedy... Such a strong word... She just wasn't right for Willow..

Believe what you want but Tara was as right for Willow as Xander was.

Willow however was right for Tara in making her more than a shy little doll, just like Oz was for early Willow.

We are getting off topic here... And now that I actually think about it... I never posted why I don't like Kennedy...

There was no development in their relationship... I mean... Tara and Willow had almost 3 full years... Kennedy... half a year... It just doesn't seem right to compare them at all... Theres no question that Tara was better for Willow... Maybe if there was more time, another Season... I might think differently... But as it lies... Tara over Kennedy... No contest

As a side note... Most viewers thought the same thing... Ratings dropped SIGNIFICANTLY after Tara died...

As much as you and I agree on things, this is one time I don't. I think the ratings dropped not because of Tara's death and Amber Benson's departure, but because season six was so bloody depressing. Even Marti Noxon said that no one on the writing staff realized they'd have Buffy's 'back from the dead' storyline running at the same time as Willow's 'magic addiction' storyline.

Yea... I realize all that... I was just mid-rant about Tara... It was more of a coincidence factor than anything... But I know for myself... I was less enthusiastic about Season 7 because of the way the "killed-off" Amber Benson's character... And I know I'm not the only one! 😀

tara was perfect for willow. as mentioned in the reply above "hush" proves just how perfect they were together. they had'nt even got together at that point and they were totally on the same wave length. tara was the dominant force in the relationship, she made the play for willow. even if it was subtle and beautifully done.she was the anchor willow needed to keep her magic in check. tara caused willow to go all vengance witch when she died thats pure love :: wacko2 kennedy was and always will be just the rebound girl.it was never love just lust🙂
