Why all the Kennedy Haters?

So I'm new to the board and my first post was going to be in the "Plot holes, Inaccuracies and mistakes" Thread, but then I saw this thread and I just had to comment. I am part of the I hate Kennedy faction and heres why:

first of all I'll say I was not a fan of the Kennedy/Willow relationship and not just because I loved Tara but because I don't think Kennedy's character did much for Willow.

Secondly, Kennedy thought she had much more authority than she actually had. I think she forgot she was a potential and not part of the scoobies. I did not like seeing her in group meetings while the other potentials were not present for example in Get It Done while they were opening the slayer emergency kit.

And also the way she questioned Buffy like she could have done a better job or like she new what it felt like to carry all these people. She was way out of line. Bad Kennedy! Fall in line! You're a potential! You don't have a voice, it belongs to Buffy!

I totally agree with you!
I don't really think you can give out to Kennedy just because she wanted to have a opinion on how she may die, Kennedy was risking her life, she was being trained, since she was at least 8, To work on her instinct and to be working totally alone, as most slayers do. Suddenly the council is gone and so are the rules, Slayers are training with Potential slayers, and Why should Buffy get more say then Kennedy, Kennedy is risking her life much more then Buffy is, she does not have slayer strength, but she still chooses to fight. And we see numerous times where Kennedy proves herself to be as Good as any Slayer, There are two times where she steps up to take on a Umber Vampire, when she was powerless, before anyone else does!

Personally if I was doing what she was doing I would want a say in what is going on!

And about her attending the meeting, she was dating Willow, that's what got her into those, I mean it makes sense she would be there, if she was just another potential Slayer and she got to attend the meeting it would have been different. But dating Willow got her an all access pass.

I couldn't disagree more. It doesn't matter if she was dating Willow. That doesn't make her privy to information she shouldnt have or wasnt time for her to have dating Willow or not she was still a potential she still ranks the same as the others being with Willow was just a perk of the impending doom.

and thank you to Old Master III and Summers Blood for agreeing with me they're my first agreements on the board, it makes me feel officially welcomed 🙂.

Apartment So M.K you purely hate Kennedy because you like Willow and Tara?

I loved Willow and Tara together, they were my fav couple in both Buffy and Angel, But I don't see how people can hate Kennedy just because Kennedy dates Willow. Tara had dies there was no possibility for the two of them, so it makes sense that Willow would move on.

P.S. I would much rather see Willow and Tara together then Kennedy and Willow, but I don't think it is a just reason to hate her!

But that should go for anyone who the scobies have dated, why should Tara have been allowed to go to the meetings, she offered nothing to the group at the start, But Willow told her all of Buffy's secrets such as her being the Slayer, But that's what happens when you date someone, the same rules don't apply to just a friend, they get to hear about the stuff that happens in your life, even if it's not your secret.

Tara offered more than Kennedy did at the begining. She offered ideas and help, Kennedy just complained, she was like a lesbian Dawn. I get that she's Willows girl so she feels shes entitled to be part of the scooby meetings but it's just not enough. I mean if that's the case then Dawn should have been let into the meetings sooner and I think if anyone decides who should be part of the meetings or not it's Buffy because I think a sibling relationship (even Buffy & Dawn's) is stronger than a starting relationship. I mean why did Buffy not let Dawn be part of the meetings? She just wasnt ready. And Kennedy was definitely not ready.

I don't think Buffy did not want dawn in the meeting because she was not ready, but because she was her little sister.
And the thing is Even if Kennedy did invite herself to the meeting(And I don't remember her doing that) Buffy could have asked her to leave, or if she really wasn't welcome someone would have said something, But I think she was accepted by the rest of the gang, As in a 'being invited to the meetings' way.

And if you look at the meetings she seems to be involved, as if Buffy asked her, In get it done, she is training the others Potentials, this shows that Buffy must trust her, Buffy realises that she is qualified to do that job.

And then after Chloe has Killer herself, Buffy comes into the living room and asks:
BUFFY
Is everyone here?

KENNEDY
All accounted for.
That to me suggests that Buffy told Kennedy to round up the other potentials, again showing trust.

Again in that ep, when the emergency is called, Buffy tells Dawn to send the potentials upstairs, but Kennedy stays downstairs, and goes through the bag with the gang!

I think all of this proves(Or at least suggests) that she was an accepted member of the group, she was 'ranked' above the other potentials!

Well when you invite yourself somewhere you dont really announce it so Kennedy wasnt going to say "Im inviting myself accept it!"

And i'll give you the reason why Buffy didn't want Dawn in the meetings.

And as for the reasons where shes involved and offering something other than whining other potentials are usually there.

As for her being accepted by the others, there was just way too much going on to start arguments about whether Willows girl should be there or not.

and about her training the potentials I did not like that AT ALL I mean I know that they give some hints here and there that Kennedy has been trained I dont think she was the person to do it. And her inviting herself to meetings and being part of meetings she should not have been a part of, I think we can all agree or at least I hope, that she was as much a student as the other potentials and should NOT be training them.

Ok just wanna point out we don't know if she just invited herself.

But on the training thing, Kennedy says she has known how to use a crossbow since she was 8, so I think she would be perfectly capable of training the other who have had no experience at all, And actually just thinking about it, since she was training others she could not really mix with the other potentials in the same way as they all did with each other, because at times they would have to be taking orders from her and she probably would not have been taken seriously if she was around them all the time, so it is possible that she hung out with the scobies because she had no one else.

Yeah I agree with all that... yes we dont know if she did invite herself or not and I also said they mentioned her having some training (the whole her using a crossbow since she was 8 thing) But my thing is, training or not she doesnt really know what shes up against so she should be being trained with the others and I also agree about the whole her not mixing well with the other potentials if shes training them but my argument is she shouldnt be training them at all...lol

Aw, come on! Kennedy is funky. Okay so she has got some major attitude problems, but that can be charming... I guess...

Hehe I agree. I am no Kennedy fan, I don't prefer her with Willow over Tara or Oz. But hey, they're both gone in season 7 so I'm cool with Kennedy 😀

(Gah, a year ago I would've never thought I'd see myself writing something like this, haha..)

You know what bothers me the most about Kennedy? I'm not sure she's necessary.

I think about how at the beginning of the season Willow was dealing with all those power, control, and acceptance issues. I was wanting to watch her deal with those and resolve them. Then they went off on that Willow/Kennedy thing and Willow's personal character resolution got pushed into the background to deal with her new relationship issues. Even if Kennedy helped Willow with her problems, I find that a bit of a cop-out. I wanted to watch Willow grow and conquer in her own way.

Valid points all. Well said.

Not only was it too soon after Tara, but there was just too much stuff going on with the first, Spike, and the potentials, that there really wasn't time for their relationship to develop. So it looked like it was this fling that didn't really mean much, and after the relationship Willow had with Tara I don't think this was a good follow up.

I personally am a big willow/tara fan but that isn't why i hate kannedy she was just annoying beyond anything ever... i know that she was suppose to be opposite of tara and hell yes they r opposites. i didn't see any real connection or love between willow/kennedy like i saw between willow/oz or willow/tara. kennedy just seemed really obssesed with getting willow.. i mean it's true who can't fall in love with willow , but the girl pushed way to much. oh ya and that whole kite kite string conversation those 2 had was just blah. i think buffy should have kicked kennedy's butt. one word to discribe kennedy = bitca

is that enough reason y i hate kennedy

GRR ARRG 🙂

i desagree this is mot a word to describe her!i also really love tara/willow but tara is dead so willow had to move ono with her life!and i think you should too.we know that kennedy's a brat annoying bla bla bla...ok i think we got it!
