Why Angel Chooses The Name "Connor" For His Son

Does anyone know why Angel chose that name for his son? If I recall correctly, he immediately decides upon "Connor." The name itself means strong-willed, wise, or "wolf kin" (which I find is appropriate). I was just wondering if anyone knew if the name held any significance to Angel.

I'm not sure if this played a part in Angel's choosing of the name Connor but it is also very common as a surname, both as Connor and O'Connor. It's popular all over Ireland, including Galway where Angel is from. In its ancient, non-anglicisied form it would have been à“ Conchobhair or à“ Conchúir. There was a king of Ireland called Conchobhair and the name itself is associated with Irish royalty. Some sources describe the name meaning hero or champion, which would have been very fitting. Legends of the Conchobhair and the O'Connor's in general would surely have been told to Angel during his boyhood.

One of the triplets who played baby Connor was actually called Connor. They were Connor, Jake and Trenton Tupen. Don't know if that actually means anything tho' 🙂

I've heard that rumor over the Internet quite a lot and that name seems have been adopted by a lot of Fanfiction writers for Angel's last name. And I *suppose* it makes sense that he'd name his son after his own surname, but was this ever officially confirmed by a BTVS/ATS representative?

Not saying you're wrong, it's just as far as I'd heard that was all hearsay. I don't think we were ever told that from an official source 🙂

Actually, I have it on the greatest authority that Angel's human name was Liam Hanrahan, but that's another story.

As to why Angel chose the name "Connor" for his son, he named him after a distant kinsman of his through his Scottish mother's family: Connor Macleod. (Actually, he just liked the movie)
