I don't think the shippers hate each other, though I do notice that if you dislike the Spike character you are often called a Bangel that is 'blinded' by their Spike hate.

I can't count how many times that this has happened to me. People just naturally assume that I'm a Bangel and use it to slag me off.
Yes, I used to 'ship Bangel, but I also used to think Spike was great. I moved on from those two opinions when I realised certain things about those characters.

If people think this debate is still interesting then what's the problem exactly?
It's odd that you post specifically to complain that this is all 'still going on' when it hasn't even devolved into some sort of flame war.

But I will bite there has been some good debates going on in the thread. But there has also been a lot of the old Pro Spike gang taking pop shots at the Pro Angel gang and visa vica. After awhile it just gets boring.

My point was that there was, at one time, a Spuffy shipper who was so angry and upset that anyone would have the audacity to ship anything but Spuffy or feel anything but love and adoration towards Spike that they were actively trying to make people change their mind or force them to stop watching the show or posting about it, thus proving this thread was nothing compared to some of the threads we've had here in the past.

I'm sure that there have been Bangels who have been just as vocal and enraged in their hatred of Spike and Spuffy and have said similar things to Spuffies, I just haven't met any of them. If you have, then I'm sorry that my side of the fandom has let us down so badly.

Well without naming names theres a few very vocal hard core Bangel shippers who still congregate on a certain Bangel fan board and who have (in the past) said some incredibly patronizing/unpleasant things to anyone who didn't share their particular views. Luckily as the fandom has slowly died off they have ended up sticking mainly to themselves.

I actually don't get why people take this sort of thing so serious to the point that they would start insulting others because they don't share their views. It isn't worth it at the end of the day. I love a good back and fourth debate as much as anyone, but its much better to keep it within the spirit of good nature. That way no one loses their heads, and the debates are more engaging and fun.

But that comparison is not the same. For the same comparison it would be 'if you dislike Angel you are automatically called a Spuffy' and I personally have never heard that. Where the comment I mentioned happens often to me.

Yeah, I think this has been a good thread. I really got some strong ideas where people are coming from and I know I learned a fair amount. Flame wars are dull - but talking, just talking, that's kind of a luxury. I man, where else can we discuss this stuff. Don't know about you but my life is not swimming in Buffy fan(atic)s

Not to get contentious, but that's what keeps happening to me. People assume that I don't like Angel because I like Spike - and since I ship the two them it's kind of odd to be confronted with good stuff about Angel cuz I like Angel. For some reason people who know I like Spike always seem to think I must be a Spuffy fan, and that I must hate Angel. It's why I started the thread actually. This is like a huge crystal - and there are some people who really focus on only one facet (and that goes for everyone at different times).

I said that in my next post, that there were crazies in both camps. I was merely using an example that was very personal to me to make a point about the thread. I never implied that the insaniacs were confined to the Spuffy/Spike side of the fandom, I just personally have never come across any as, like SS pointed out, the really crazy ones tend to stick to the Bangel blogs now and don't venture out much and I'm not much of a shipper to begin with. This is the only forum I'm an active member of, which apparently makes me very isolated when it comes to certain things.
