Why are movies so bad?

Or it's because everyone is online

Everyone is not online though, a very vocal minority of film/culture nerds are online discussing/complaining about the state of movies. There are plenty of people who don't watch 'negative, hateful' YouTube reviews but merely glance at and trust Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB instead.

Why are normal, terminally not-online people not wanting to go to see crap Disney movies? It's not because The Critical Drinker put them off.
It's because some normal, oblivious people went to see it because they wanted a night of entertainment and afterwards told everyone they knew that 'eh, its not very good, don't waste your money'. It's just organic word-of-mouth a lot of the time and points to actual problems with quality-control in the current film industry.

But that doesn't happen with all movies; Oppenheimer, Barbie, Top Gun: Maverick and Mario were all smashes at the box office and bucking the trend.

Reboots and sequels up to yang yang and very few good actors and actresses. So very few fresh and new ideas.
