Why Are We Here?

Don't lynch me for this, now, I'm giving you an opportunity to wax poetic about what is obviously one of our favorite subjects.

Why are you personally here discussing (mostly with great passion) a canceled tv show starring actors who have moved on to other projects, created by a man who now seems to currently spend his time marching in picket lines and writing comic books?

well, was the t.v. show really cancelled or was it that they decided to end it (in the case of buffy). Angel on the other hand.....

Because t.v. shows dont die just because they arnt on air. Because it touched me and had meaning in my life the way no other t.v. show has. Because it had so much going on within it that even being a fan for 10 years there are STILL things i havnt thought about or considered that people on these boards bring up that really make me think, whether i agree or disagree. Because you could spend months dissecting only one episode. Because the characters have become almost like people we know personally.

And because maybe im a little crazed and can't let it go! ::love::

Well I don't really think the only reason I am still here is because of the reasons that you mentioned WA! I intially joined because of my love of Buffy which I will always have, but I stayed because of all of the lovely people who I get to post with. I love reading everyone elses opinions and discussing other new shows and all the comic books. Whedon created a great show that I think has brought thousands of people together with a similar interest and here a some of the best fans right here on the board. I just :heart: posting with you all!

that and I wanted to know more about Angel which I only JUST started watching and wanted insight into the comic book considering that it contiues the story...but I dont actually think I will take the time to read it.

im here because i truly enjoyed all 7 seasons of buffy, 5 seasons of angel, and 1 season of firely.

i could (and have) watched all of the above multiple times. i cant think of any other shows that i would do that with. im not saying there weren't/aren't other great shows out there (i.e. rome, sopranos, etc.), but i cant see myself watching them after the first viewing.

further, buffy started about the time i started college. what im saying is that its nostalgic to me to some degree.

further, further, i think that sci-fi fans have a special place in their hearts for shows that are great and are no longer around (i.e. trekkies). i mean, look how many people are having 'brown coat parties' eventhough firefly has only 1 season! we sci-fiers love to talk about the shows we have watched and what could have been had they continued. that is why i am here.

I have very few (offline) friends.

Of those few, only one likes Buffy.

I don't party enough for her to hang out with much.

So I'm here to rave about Buffy since nobody else will listen to me, not even my hubby.

Buffy is a part of me. There is no other show on tv that I am passionate about. It's very easy to come here everyday and reply to posts that are either new to me, or that I have seen 100 times. For the shows out there that touch you, you can after years, still find things to say. Or repeat. And you gladly do it because this is our way of keeping it alive.

Because no matter how many times I've seen a certain episode, I will watch it every time it's on TV.

Because I try to watch all 7 seasons of Buffy once a year or so.

Because it reminds me of high school.

Because Buffy is an empowering female figure.

Because Angel is a dark and brooding soul.

Because Spike brings out the best in both of the above.

Because I would rather re-hash good memories several times over than make new ones with other tv shows. When Buffy first aired....me and my friends were young, and full of ideas about empowerment and such that we sucked on the spoon that was Buffy for an age. Now it's just me and I'm the one with all seven seasons of Buffy and five seasons of Angel annoying the friends that used to love it going "Come on! Let's watch this!"

Someone's gotta keep it going 😉

It's my first show obsession. It opened me up to the supernatural genre. Through this I got into Roswell, Dark Angel, Charmed and probably more shows that I've now forgotten the names of lol ) I didn't get out much when I was at school lol In fact I remember the season finale of season 3 very well because my friends at school, knowing how obsessed I was with the show, decided to phone me so that I would miss it. They just didn't grasp the brilliance of Buffy 🙂 I can watch the episodes over and over and not get tired of them. Plus this place keeps the show alive. Unlike Charmed, Buffy doesn't have any re-runs on that I can watch when I get back from work lol

Why am I here? basically I'm here because of a little blonde girl with more attitude than a Snoop concert!

I'm here because right around the time Buffy started, well the shan officially hit the fit for me...in a big way. I was really young and was being hit with stuff I really had no clue how to deal with, I had people relying on me and well I started to crumble. Then one afternoon I was idly flicking through the channels and well it's never been the same since😀 Buffy allowed me an outlet, it grounded me , heck it kept me sane! For that reason the show will always have a huge place in my heart, cuz it pretty much saved me.

So why am I HERE? Because THIS place is Buffy now, it keeps the show alive in the most wonderful way. The people who come on here care as much as I do if not more. So thats why I'm here, cuz of everyone here, you keep it going!😀

Because I rarely make good friends, normally online, and they all turned out to be Buffy fanatics, I was more or less forced to become such a big fan, they converted me LOL so for me its second nature for my friendships to be based around Buffy *shrugs*

i discovered buffy in april so its all so new to me! I havnt finished it yet! so i might as well TALK about it! All my friends in real life (if you get my point) have NO appreciation for Buffy so who else am I gonna talk about Buffy with???!! ALL YOU GUYS OF COURSE!!l🙂 😀

I'm the last surviving Buffy fan among my offline friends. I was watching Buffy again, while I was sick this autumn, and I've got no one to share my thought with. This' why I'm here - to find like-minds, to have fun. 🙂
And I am so sad the show has ended. I just love it. I've seen many others but Buffy is like a first love.

You think You've got it bad? Imagine being a sixty year old man trying to find anyone in his own age group to talk to seriously about his vampire slayer obsession. Then I found this place, and half of you probably think I'm crazy while the rest think I'm some kind of perv stalking kids on the internet. Well, I'm neither, I'm just a good ol' boy (WAY old) who loves to talk about Buffy. (And even Angel as long as he stays away from Buffy)
