After Gio died, the guy responsible for most of the mess with Rondell and Gunn's crew, couldn't have Gunn just explained to Rondell the situation about Angel Investigations? AI is doing good things. Rondell's crew was also originally a vampire hunting group. Couldn't just Gunn influence Rondell to go back to vampire hunting while AI do the non-vampire demon hunting (for the most part it was other types of demons, although AI would still go after vamps from time to time)?
Rondell's crew didn't truly loose the mission. Their mission was to exterminate all vamps from their neighborhoods. Given the nature of vamps you can kill them all but some demons are harmless. That's basically what Rondell's crew did, expand their "kill all vamps" motto towards other demons, some of which demons are peaceful. So if Rondell just resumed to just targeting vampires, it really wouldn't be a problem.
