But he never did that for the original Scooby Gang (Buffy, Giles, Will, and Xander)?

I never understood that.

I thought that by the end of "Chosen" the true core of the Scoobie's was Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles and Dawn, and I thought they were fine with each other. Sure, pretty much since S4 there had been some rocky roads traveled, but they came together at the end.

And you have to remember, they are different show, with different characters. I liked how the interactions between Angel, Spike, Wes, Gunn, Fred and Lorne were unique from what we saw on Buffy. And while the Scoobies seemed to grow apart a bit, and then back together, I thought that Team Angel really splintered (and on a few occasions, broke) more than once over the course of the series. Despite that, seeing them come together slowly through S5, and then in such an awesome and fantastic way at the end, was really special. They had been through so much together, often BECAUSE of each other, just as much as Buffy's team, and the way they reunited was very cool. Illyria was a huge, huge part of that. I thought that she (and Fred's death of course) brought them back together quite a bit. And the way she develops and grows closer with Wes was a tremendous story.

I actually think that after all that had happened with Team Angel, his famous line at the beginning of S4 in "Deep Down", the "we live in this world as it should be, to show people what it can be", and about how what's come before doesn't matter, it's the NOW that matters, was very fitting with "Not Fade Away" and how it all ended with them fighting the good fight, together, because that's what truly matters.

because until there's life there's hope

The Scoobies are all still alive and can always review their mistakes in the future, while the team Angel cannot do it ..are dead almost all and it was right to see that Joss has resolved their friendship

I found it so interesting that at the beginning of BtVS the Scoobies were best friends...but by the end they drifted so far apart. Giles and Buffy never even resolved their fight (I have nothing to learn from you)...it's really sad to see

Angel rocks though. It made me happy that their friendship lasted.

I think the writers had the AI crew resolve their issues because it hadn't happened with Buffy and the Scoobies and although I was satisfied with the end of season 7 and the series in general it would have been nice if they had all been one big, happy family.

Also at the end of Buffy, I got the sense that the war was essentially won and they would have plenty of time to sort out their differences afterwards. At the end of Angel I felt that they knew this was it and if they didn't patch things up, they would never get the chance. Of course, the comics later proved me wrong, but those were my initial opinions based solely on the shows.

The characters on Angel were all adults and much more mature than the characters of Buffy. Jell, even Spike grew up a bit on Angel.

On Angel they were always able to put aside their differences and help each out even during the period when friendships were strained/nonexistent, yet they always came back together. The loyalty they have to each other far outclasses the friendship of the Scoobies.
