Why did Tara mess up the spell in "Goodbye Iowa"?

Yeah I know it was really 'cause of the demon thing, and I know that we were supposed to believe something was strange, I'm just saying that the first time I saw that episode I thought it was 'cause tara thought the spell could be dangerous/difficult/whatever, and I had no thought what so ever that it could have something to do with Tara being something weird..

This thread helped alot. I was wondering the same thing.

I liked the whole Tara being a demon thing. It's a nice buffyverse metaphor for what someone in Tara's shoes would feel/believe after being treated very badly by ones family. It also explains a little bit why she's so shy and insecure.

I agree. It was a very interesting twist, as well.

Like someone said before, I always thought it was because Tara thought the spell was too advanced for Willow and her, she did say "are you sure we're ready for that?", but it also makes sense for her to be hiding her demon part that she thought she had.

I too, thought this. Tara was concerned with the details of the spell and wasn't sure if they were ready for that. I always thought that is why she'd damaged the spell.

It have never occured to me that it was because she thought she was half demon. I guess probably because that storyline was a whole season later.
