If the first brought angel back then why did it try to kill him, i know that it was never confirmed why and how angel was brought back but why did the first want him dead?

Maybe he realised what a major player in the upcoming apocalypse he was going to be. Or maybe he bought him back, with the intention of killing him, to upset Buffy some more.

mayb, but seems like a lot of truble to go through

I don't think the First brought Angel back... I think it was The Powers That Be. The First wanted him dead because he would later become a burden. He would save the world... way too many times.

Good point. 🙂 Um ... don't know. 😉

so in conclusion there are three main powers that could have brought angel back,
1.the first so it could kill him
2. The PTB so he can become a champion and save the world
£. or jasmine so he could help cordy get her visions and have connor so he could impregenate cordy

I think it was all to do with Buffy...
The First wants to hurt Buffy, but not physically...
If you remember in an episode of season seven, the First says ''Kill everyone, except her'' or something to that affecr...refering to Buffy...
So I think its all centered around Buffy...

Actually The First didn't want Angel dead - at least not originally. In Amends The First was more interested in corrupting Angel and using him to get to Buffy. You'll remember towards the end of Amends, Angel chooses to die rather than hurt Buffy, to which The First says something along the lines of, "Well that works too."

You'll notice The First treats Spike in a similar manner in Buffy Season 7.

Another interesting tidbit; When The First talks about bringing Angel back it says "WE". I used to have this wild bit of speculation that used to get everyone pissed off, where The First and Jasmine were working together.

LOL-I had this same theory-N4H-we live on the same wavelegnth!!!!

I'm not sure how or why Angel came back... my guess was that it was the Powers that Be though, since they also made it snow in amends, they obviously wanted Angel alive (or atleast un-dusted). The First's plan wasn't to kill Angel though, at first it was trying to get him to loose his soul with Buffy. Which when you think about it makes sense because Angelus is evil, just like the first. And he probably has the best chance of taking out Buffy.
But later in the show, Angel goes to kill himself, it wasn't part of the First's plan but I guess from it's point of view having a good-guy dead is better than having him fighting for the oppisite side.
But hey, then the snow comes and all is better in Sunnydale. 😀

It was probably the powers that be that made it snow since they obviously had plans for him aswell. And The First probably wanted Angel for the same reason he wanted Spike(spike was like an add in for Angel) to help take over the world.

I think the first wanted Angel dead because it knew of future events, however being uncorporeal couldn't affect them directly. The First knew that if Angel was out of the way, there would be no way to get the amulet to Buffy for the battle in chosen...or I could just be talking out my arse...

I agree with that, not the talking out of your arse bit, the other part.

It could have also been that the First thought Angel might have been the one to wear the amulet in the battle, as he was the only known vampire with a soul. Do I make sense?

I found this at RestlessBTVS.com with trivia facts aboout "Chosen"

Amends: This episode finally reveals why the First tormented Angel in Amends, and also why it went specifically after Spike: because one of the two (both vampires with a soul) were destined to wear the amulet that was going to destroy the First's army

That does make sense, but I think that was the First's second choice. Its first choice was for Angel to turn evil, making the forces of Evil that much stronger.

My theory: The First brought Angel back because it knew he was the only vampire who could get close enough to sire Buffy. I mewa, a slayer-vamp could be a real asset to the forces of evil, wouln't you say?

With either Buffy or Angel dead the First could have proved victorious in S7. I mean without Buffy to lead them, trust her gut instinct and find the scythe, and visit the Old Lady to find out the possibilities of the scythe the First would have won. If Buffy died, Spike wouldn't have gotten a soul and who knows if Angel would have left Sunnydale in season 3. Maybe he would have stayed behind to help the scoobies in Buffy's absence. I dunno...just some ideas.
