Why did the watchers council stop chasing Faith?

WHY!?

The council chased her from Sunnydale to L.A.(Buffy to Angel) With the help of Buffy and Angel the members that were sent by the council to retreive her were slowed, which allowed Faith to escape.

Instead of running, Faith turned herself in. (to the L.A.P.D)

The council stopped pursuing. They never attempted to retrieve her again. You would've thought with her in police custody that it would have been easier to have her transferred to the council in England.

Surely the council still would've considered her a threat, or at the very least think it was wrong that a slayer be kept in a prison.

The only reason I could think of is they truely beleived she was sorry and not a danger anymore, or the council had other thing, more important, to worry about.
 
I would think they'd have a harder time getting her away from the cops, not an easier one because she is confined.
 
No, I think M-a-r-c has a point. I haven't really thought about it, but The Council is supposed to wield all kinds of power. Remember their threats to have Giles deported in Checkpoint? So, you'd think that they could just walk into an LAPD precinct, flash the required i.d. and take her off their hands. I'll have to think about this some more...
 
Maybe they just figured that if she was in jail, that was fine enough. Considering that she turned herself in, it wasn't possible that she was goig to try and break out. Plus, she was going down for murder (right? from Sunnydale?) and might not be out in a long time. Maybe they figured it was a waste of time.

They could've totally gotten her if they really wanted to. They definitely had enough power.
 
But they must have known that she could break out of there any time she wanted. I would've thought they'd be keen to get her locked down in their own form of maximum security, where even a slayer couldn't break out if she changed her mind.
 
Maybe they were a bit put off when their finest were beaten to a pulp by faith and co and no longer saw her as a threat when she was in prison and they couldn't chase her when she broke out cos they were mostly all dead
 
I would say that it is the fact that Faith turned herself in, because there is no doubt that they could have taken her out of Prison.
 
Yeah, but how could they be sure that she hadn't just turned herself in a moment of remorse. Then, when things get tough in prison or whatever, she might think, "Bugger this. What the hell am I sticking around here for?" and break out.
 
After Faith turned herself in, they stopped chasing Faith. Because they were chasing her for they thought she was losing it; she committed a crime which was in the realms of the human law, she murdered a human. They chased her because she had to pay for what she did, but she turned herself in and proved that she didn't lose it altogether and was aware of her crime, that's why they stopped chasing her.
 
I disagree I dont think they were chasing her just because she murdered/ attacked some people, They kept saying that because she was a rogue slayer it was especially important they got her.

I also thought (in Bbuffy or Angel) they said something about a special trial as she was a slayer. I just thought she'd be treated differently. rather than left to the police to handle I would've thought that the watchers council would have intervened.

Also she turned herself in near the end of season 4 of Buffy and season 1 of Angel. This is nearly two years before the first began to kill the slayers(potentials) The only time I remember hearing of the council in that time was the whole Glory incident in season 5.
 
Pretty simple really... if the council got her they'd probably kill her and then she couldn't have come back on the series. : grinyes
 
What I'm wondering is, why not try and kill Faith just so they have a Slayer under their control.
They seem like controlfreaks to me.
