Why did Wesley spare Angel when kidnapping faith?

Had he come to accept he was relatively trustworthy, and just think he was a misguided martyr, or did he simply fear that staking Buffys "Pet Monster" However wise it might be, in the end, would create too much friction with her.

I think he was afraid of the backlash from Buffy, to be honest. I don't think he cared enough for Angel to do HIM any favors, but I do think he was scared of Buffy and the revenge she might exact if he had harmed Angel in any way.

Didn't Wes say something at that time about doing more good since he'd been working with Angel than in all of his time with the Watchers? Obviously he respected Angel and thought that he was sincere in his desire to try in whatever way that he could to atone for some of the evil that he had done before he regained his soul. He saw Angel as good, but Faith, if not totally, irredeemably evil, was at that point not to be trusted.

Since he never had any such intention of harming Angel, any fear of or concern over Buffy's reaction was never a consideration.

I was referring to when wesley did kidnap faith, then promptly lost her, mind you., trapping angel in a net.

WA, I think you're thinking of Angel season 3, rather than Buffy season 3.

I agree with what everyone else has said. The Council didn't seem overly concerned with Angel (although I wonder why not, especially after the events of Buffy season 2). I also wonder if Wes wasn't just a bit scared of Angel?

But basically I think that it just wasn't a priority of the Council at that time; a rogue Slayer (who they are directly responsible for) most definitely was a huge concern for them.
