Why didnt Wolfram and Hart offer spike a deal?

Not to sound like a Spike hater, but what good would it do?

Genuinely asking.

Spike is a notorious vampire, but I dont think thats a big enough deal to be on W&Hs radar. Angel came to their attention and was a major player in the apocalypse, it makes sense to be tied to him, but Spike doesn't have that.

Even with Spikes reputation he is still just a vampire, demons dont have the same disadvantages a vampire does, I just dont think Spike would be much of a gain for them.

True. Spike, for a vampire (and a young one at that) was fairly badass, but he wasn't say, on the level of The Master or Darla. (or Angel who they considered a 'player')

Also, would Spike really have played ball? He never struck me as particularly honourable, at the first oppertunity after being de-chipped (?) he would've tried to wriggle out of any deal/be disruptive/willfull.

The best vampires always want to be their own boss, the don't want to become a lackey. 🙂

Probably. W&H didn't see Spike as any sort of threat, and didn't want him as any sort of ally. That's if they saw him at all, or were even aware of his existence.

Would Spike have been likely to go to W&H to get his chip removed?. Maybe, if he knew anything about them, but I can't recall him having any dealings with them, or had even so much as heard of them. Maybe he just didn't even know that they existed, or, if he did, had no scope of their actual power. Or maybe, by the time that the idea did occur to him, he was so fixated on Buffy that having his chip removed was no longer any sort of priority to him.

WR&H didn't want to try to get Spike on their side. Spike often seemed as though he'd do stuff as and when. But he knew what he wanted and would do anything to get it, which might well imply he had thought long and hard on the subject at hand.
Angel only took WR&H's offer because of Connor Spike didn't have need for anything so they probably saw it as a waste of time trying con Spike to be on their side.
What was it that Angel saw that led to the fight in the alley, as was it the comments Spike made?
