Why do people dislike Hillary Duff?

this morning when i was at work i was listening to my MP3 player and i remembered a thread that we had here at BB a while ago. where one of us asked the rest of us, why do people dislike H.Duff. and some one answered(and i don't remember who 😛 ) that they disliked her cause she trieds to do everything, smal screen big screne, music and now fashion... and as i was remembering this, something hit me, she is not the only one who is all over the place... so i wanted to see you lovely peoples take on this:

Hilary duff is not the only person who is all over the place, but why does people dislike her in general?

jennifer lopez: dancer, movie actress, has her own cloth line, does music(okay voice okay music)

jennifer L. hewit(sp?): tv and movie actress, and does music(okay music, okay voice)

lindsy lohan: movie actress and does music(bad voice and bad music)

jamie-lynn seigler(now discala): tv actress, does or did music(okay voice, bad music)

hilary duff: tv and movie actress, does music has her own line(what is it t-shirts or somethig like that ?) (bad voice, bad music)



anyone have any opinions? 😉 i'd love to hear'em.... :1010:

i don't dislike her as a person...she seems like she's nice and all...but...like everyone listed there...it's all forced upon us...to go buy there shiz...so....whatever...i think lindsay lohan can act hella good...but i'm a guy and i'm probably just saying that cause she got huge boobies...so...whatever...

I like Hillary Duff as a person and some of her songs played on the radio are quite catchy and most importantly I think she's a terrific role model for kids. She's not out every night with Paris Hilton getting drunk and going crazy.

Having a little niece now makes me think about this kind of stuff more now 😀
 
I have a confession to make.. I have never seen or heard Hillary Duff, at all. I know nothing about her (except the things I keep hearing everywhere but I forget most of it). I just don't know anything about all these new celebrity peopl.. Um, maybe I need to start watching TV again..
 
Yeah, I`m sure Hillary Duff is a really great person in real life but.. I really don`t think she can act very well. Not in that show, hmm don`t remember what it`s called, anyway. But hey, my little cousin loves her.
 
I like hilary duffy, and i really loved the this is what dreams are made off song from the film lizzie mguire i had it in my head for months lol

I don't really have anything against Hillary Duff. Tired of seeing Paris Hiltons scrawny naked behind everywhere I go, but hey- that's just me.
So I guess:

Jennifer Lopez- Mediocre voice, Mediocre actress, haven't really seen her clothing line, and don't so much care for her perfumes. However there are various other reasons (as described in A-list thread) why I do not care for her....

Jennifer Love Hewitt- She's not so bad an actress. Not the best, but not the worst by all means. I remember one song she came out with a while back and I remember being surprised that she had such a nice voice. I didn't rush out and buy her CD or anything- but her voice IMO isn't that bad.

Lindsay Lohan- (drool) sexy mamacita. :confused5 *cough* Sorry- I have a sweet tooth for redheads. N-E way, She did a pretty decent job acting in Freaky Friday. Thought Diary of a Teenage Drama Queen was hideous. Don't care much for her singing....just her looks... ::evil1::

Jamie-Lynn Siegler- Uhhh, who?

Hilary Duff- Haven't really seen her act, or sing. So I can't really say. I just know it seems she's been on every magazine Cover from Cosmo to Style lately....
 
I dont mind Hillary Duff 😀 I think it's more the same reason people dislike of Mary Kate and Ashley. They're just jealous...like "what has she got that I haven't?"
 
Another reason I like Hillary is that she presents a healthy body image for young girls. She's thin, no doubt, but she's not emaciated and seems comfortable in her own skin.

That's one of the reasons' I've grown to not like the Olsens, especially MK. Making films for kids/young adults and being anorexic is not something you want to put out there.

Oh and Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls - superb 😀
 
I think what Hilary Duff and the rest of the above group represent is an overall shift in what we, as a collective TV-watching, movie-going demographic will considerable tolerable. The reason I despise so many of them is that to one degree or another they seem like homogenized variants of earlier celebs and superstars. In other words, they symbolize capitalism controlling artistry. (Bring the man down!) So, instead of having a cornucopia of niche talents we sometimes have the Wal-mart version foisted upon us.

My tastes in music differ radically from your average bear but only because I don't want to be caught listening to what everyone else does (which reminds me---ever heard of Goldfrapp?)... I'd have to say that the only "poppy" artist I can swallow w/ regurgitating some guilty bile is Kelly Clarkson. Of all the soulless saps to emerge from Amercian Idol she exudes a je ne sais quoi that keeps me riveted, makes her believable, as if her soul really was in what she's doing.

Of course, it could be that the nature of the music and work that these celebs are willing to do is inherently "soulless" and meant to suit watered-down preferences. I know that Kelly Clarkson doesn't really do a straight "pop" anymore, though as to what parameters pop abides by I cannot descry.

I think if we saw through the thick veil of publicity agents, hair stylists, managers, producers, and record labels, television executives, and so on, we might actually have a glimpse at who J-Lo really is, or what really makes Lindsay Lohan tick.

Of course, usually when they get to a level where they supposedly can do what they want, they start removing more clothing and making more sexual references (re: Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, etc.).

As for myself, I'll stick to listening to Death Cab for Cutie, Goldfrapp, and things that still feel like they're on the fringe (as in, they're excruciatingly hard to find at Best Buy).
 
I don't dislike her, cause I don't even know her. But I can't stand her music or acting. I dont like her music because.... I just don't like pop music or her voice. And think she's a bad actress... No particular reason.
