Why Do People Hate Angel?

I think he meant that he gets who ever he seems to want at the moment...but yeah, I find that annoying too...but only because they seem to act like he deserves it above anyone else...like he's better...and I just don't see that. I like him a lot but I don't think he's above the other characters. I wish it were that easy for poor Wesly!

I'm thinking some people hate Angel because he has better dance moves than Spike.
Can Spike groove like that? I think NOT! 😛 😛 😛

But seriously, a lot of people dislike Angel because they believe him to be too whiny, unfunny, and broody....preferring Spike for reasons that I won't rehash here....as they are posted all over the BB by the avid Spike fans for everybody to see, lol.

But don't count me among them. I like Spike, but I am an Angel fan. He is strong of will and has great depth. The true Champion.
 
Honestly...
He's stuck on himself.
There is a difference in being internal and intorverted, and being egocentric.
And why not Dawn? She is now the same age as Buffy was when they met...and only a year younger than Buffy when he took her virginity...
Not to mention the fact...he is petty at times..he is petty a lot of the time...
He was jealous of Xander for Chrissakes...He beat up Riley just because Riley was Buffy's new boy...
It's one thing to feel bad for the things you've done...But unlike reformed baddies such as Spike and Faith..he feels sorry for himself and not for the people he did things to...
His need to help others seems to stem more from his need to help himself feel better than from a pure, genuine need to help others...
Angel does have his good points...like his great deadpan humour...his loyalty to friends(when he isn't going off the deepend), and his resieliancy...
But I always found Angelus way more interesting...
And honestly...I have to admit...I really have a problem with liking depressive broody people...they annoy the hell out of me...so perhaps I'm bias on the subject...

I beg to differ.

Angel came back to Sunnydale to apologize to Buffy....not to beat up on Riley. He could care LESS about Riley.
It was RILEY who engaged Angel in combat, not the other way around....all Angel did was finish it.
 
Yes...but it is also Riley's job to engage combat with Vampires....
But then again...it's been a while since I've seen this ep...and you have to admit he got pleasure out of it😉

Magui, you have a point, he does feel bad for the others too, it's just that sometimes it seems like he feels worse for himself then for them...if that makes any sense.
 
Yep....Riley DID know....and he still started a fight with Angel. If anything it was RILEY who was jealous of HIM....
 
I would be jealous of Angel, too. He is HOT, hot, hot, a cool vampire with a soul. And did I say... uh... HOT?
 
I've always liked Angel, thought he was a great character and a loyal and sweet boyfriend. Not to mention sexy, so I don't understand why someone would dislike him.
