Why do ppl think its weird when boys(or people for that matter) watch btvs?

Hey!I noticed something..Some people think its dumb when people watch buffy...But they expect it..it doesnt suprise them...But why do they especially think its lame when boys watch it?Its not like its a girly show...I was just asking...maybe you guys havnt noticed it...But i sure have!
 
i know...they have no clue what they are missing!*caugh*angel*caugh* and its just a good show anyways....
 
Being a guy who is semi obsessed with that show, I get harrassed by my guy friends. They go on and tell me how stupid and gay BTVS and Angel are while they watch the O.C and Smallville and some guys even watch Gilmore girls and I'm the freak. They way I see it, there are just some shows that ago over most o f people's heads, Buffy and pretty much anything Joss creates are those shows. The way I see it, I'm smarter than most my friends because I actually have taste for a show thath is artistic, not the shows that pretty much ripped off BTVS. My love for the show actually scared a girl off once, I take her into my room and see's my Buffy and Angel collection on DVD and she gave me the weirdest look. That night we cuddled and kissed a little bit, but then she had to go and she never called me again. I wonder if it was the fact that I had all those DVDs and Buffy novels in my room the reason she wasn't interested and I'm pretty sure it was.
 
i am a guy who loves btvs and angel...at school, people who make fun of buffy, i just tell them they are mentally retarded.Btvs is the coolest show.its got hot girls(buffy and faith) and cool guys(xander angel spike) and its funny...and they shut up!I dunno why girls can watch it and boys cant....But oh well.i do
 
Well, I would find that quality very attractive in a guy but I'm biast...I think your right Hostile_17 I don't find it wierd at all if a guy watches it. I think it makes them more interesting. The level Buffy works on is a level that I feel says a great deal for the guys that can really love it. I give all of you Buffy lovin' men a huge thumbs up! :: tu :: You are true men! 😛 😉
 
i don't think it's weird, but it's said that more females watch it than guys. I think people get the idea that guys can't watch it because they think Buffy is all about the feminist and that the male characters are just cardboard there, which is stupid since giles and xander are one of the best characters on the show. I wouldn't say it wasn't a feminist show but that doesnt' mean that the guy characters arent' important.
 
My friends now I watch Angel but I don't get to much hassle (maybe cause they don't know how obbsessed I am?). They are like:

Friend: What you watch Angel? Thats ****TY!!!!

Me: Angel is cool. A guy pulls out a shotgun and starts firing at a rock demon.

Friend: Well, you got a point there.

That is as far as our talks about Angel go. Sadly, none of my friends watch the show so I have to come online to talk about it. I know a few would love it if they gave it a chance. There is a boy I know who adores Buffy but hates Spike. Seeing as Spike is the only reason I watch Buffy we cant talk about the show without getting in a mini argument.
 
People are stunned when they hear I watch TV, not to mention Buffy or Angel..they give me strange looks...
 
Because, the people who haven't seen the show and judge you for it, are small minded dumb **** (something that starts with an F), that care only about social acception. Who don't value personal opinion as it limits their possiblity to blend into the heard. And if they have seen the show once or twice, they enjoyed it, but keep it quiet, cause watching Buffy and Angel isn't currently labeled 'cool', instead they watch series like Friends every week, just so, they can talk to the most popular kids in school about that weeks ep.
 
Well I have never been labeled weird for watching Buffy since noone I know thinks its weird I watch it, sure they dont like it but they dont think its wrird that I watch it but ofcourse we dont talk about t that much, but it is always fun to show people The Book of Monsters.
 
My friends are always making fun of me for watching Buffy and Angel. They say that:
a) it's stupid
b) Buffy has vampire STDs
I continue to protest that there is no such thing and there were only two of them anyways! Is it my fault that when I try to make them watch Buffy ends up sleeping with someone? I tell them they've gotten the wrong impression, but they ignore me. Mostly they make fun of me because they know it eggs me on. But that's why I choose to talk about it with cool people like you guys who know how much Buffy rocks! 😀
 
Their is defiently a wider spread of girls, who tune into Angel & Buffy, but I still think it is aimed for both sexes, and it is.
All ym mates at school use to think nothing of Buffy & Angel, but I told them to tune in and they did and I have hooked about 20 people to it.
 
Only my friends know I watch Buffy, and they're fine with it. As most of my friends are bisexual girls (not on purpose) we talk about the female cast. The only real male friends I have dont mind and join in the convos.

The media studies teachers at college (2 of whom are males, 1 female) like Buffy, but as one put it "from a media prespective"

I think some people are really backwards, some guys are labelled gay for liking Buffy, a show mainly full of attractive women, yet its fine to watch men run around in shorts?
 
Errmm...I'm straight and i LOVE Buffy and Angel, and so does my uncle, so anyone who has something to say against us, they're just gay. I mean, who doesn't wanna watch Alyson Hannigan and Sarah M Gellar kick butt? (two hot girls)
 
People seem to think that Buffy is about a ditzy blonde bimbo who hunts a monster for a hour, then kills it. It's their loss.
 
I totally used to roll my eyes at Buffy! I had no clue. Thanks to my bud Rayne for introducing me to such wonderfulness. I have had so much fun watching Buffy and have met such amazing people from this site!

It is truly amazing...
