Fans of both series, why do you love BTVS and Angel?

For me it's the chemistry between the casts on both shows and how raw their acting is. Especially Sarah's in "The Body".

I love the Buffyverse because it reminds me that we are all destined for greatness, that we have the "potential" to rise above all obstacles. It reminds me that life is so much bigger than ourselves. It reminds me that family isn't always defined by your DNA. It reminds me that no matter what we did in our past, we can find redemption. It reminds me that I count in this world. The Buffyverse gives me a reason to keep going.

Everything- But most of all I get nostalgic whenever I think of my original watch through, and so its not like other shows in the sense that it sticks with you. I guess if I had to use words to describe it, I'll go with the character develpment, story arcs, witty dialogue, and the many apocalypses. Also the relationships between the characters definitley adds to how awesome the show is.

Pretty much this. The feeling, the concept and the world appeal to me. The characters are among the best ever made and I love forgetting about everything else and just dive into the Buffyverse!

It's the best sort of escapism! 🙂

I was going to go into one of my long rambling 'oooh aren't I clever' theses but Living Dead Boy saved you all the pain my summing it up in a few concise sentences. 😀

The only thing I will add is that the writing of both shows was amazing, the metaphors and everything were great but it was the interactions and character development as well as plot advancement that made is so watchable before I was ever aware of how empowering both shows are.

I have two main reasons. First, the characters. Who cares about plot holes when you get engaging character arcs for each character? They're so well-crafted, consistent, and well-acted.

Next would be the outstanding episodes. Episodes that got me hooked, like OMWF, Becoming, Hush, FFL, CWDP, and so much more.

Can I add a third reason that doesn't pertain to the show itself? The fandom. I watched Buffy long after it aired, only last year. My interest would have faded with no one to talk to, new viewpoints to consider--and I found the fandom still active after ten years, on Tumblr, LJ, and most of all, here on BB. It's awesome.

Like Buffy, I don't toss the word "love"around lightly, even with something that I enjoy as much as the goings on in the Buffyverse. What I really like about the shows, however, is the presence of one of my all time favorite themes:

No matter how bad things seem, they can always get worse, (That's not my favorite theme, but you have to have that in order to get this) but even when things are at what seems to be their worst, there is always someone willing to step up and do whatever it takes to set them right once more. That there are good, caring people in the world who ARE good and caring simply because it's in their nature to be that way, with no regard to personal rewards or even any sort of recognition. People to whom the word "loyalty" doesn't come with qualifiers or conditions, and who believe that there are some things that actually are worth dying for.

Joss seems to know how to portray that theme, and he isn't afraid to do so, often and well.

That's what I "Like" about Buffy and all of her friends.

As for Angel ... well ... I also enjoy a good laugh once in awhile.
