Why havent they mentioned LA

BTVSs season 8 is set 1 and a half years after chosen whic would mean it is set half a year after angel not fade away. what i dont get is if la has been sucked into hell woudent buffy and her gang have mentioned it by now because if the entire la has been sucked in to hell. there would be nothing left but a giant hole were LA was so it would be on the news. i would have thought that buffy would have mentioned LA by now or at least be working on something to help bring it back
 
well in ATF when the fish thing trys to contact the outside world, they have the TV on showing LA's fine and birght and sunny and not in hell. So for the scoobies, Angel is livin it up in LA still

That's how it's written, and I'm sure that that's how the writers want us to see it, but it just couldn't really work that way. How many thousands of people travel by planes, trains, or autos into Los Angeles every single day? Within the city, how many businesses' normal function is to ship/receive material of some sort from outside the immediate area? How long would it actually be before the team of Slayers assigned (pr0bably) to keep an eye on Angel & Company and the general affairs of Evil, Inc fail to report back to Buffy or Giles, or whoever they work for before someone either tries to get in touch with them or comes to investigate? LAX is a major hub in air traffic on the West Coast, what happens when planes no longer arrive or depart? Separating an entire city from the rest of the world might be feasible for Brigadoon, Ireland, but never for Los Angeles, California. I don't see how the Senior Partners would be powerful enough to pull off a global ilusion of the scale needed to make that work. Giving a relatively few people false memories about Dawn or Connor might be acceptable, but convincing the entire world that an illusion of that scale is, in fact, reality? No way.

I think that this is a major screw up in the ATF storyline, and it is going to have to be addressed and straightened out at some point, especially if there is to ever be any kind of crossover between the two series.

I suppose the idea is that only Angel and company are really out of the original LA and that LA continues alongside the LA hell dimension. So yes thousands of people are in LA hell but they are in an alternate reality as well as LA normal. Those living in LA normal are none the wiser.

Either way its a crap premise and its not thought out very well. But thats what you get when you send LA to hell but still want the world youve created in Angel to seem normal. Cant really see CNN... "in other news, LA is still in hell". Demons still arn't supposed to be known to everyone so they have to juggle these ideas and in my opinion, have failed to do so.

The humans could be created by WR&H i suppose to further torment Angel: Letting him think he's caused the deaths of thousands of innocents when really they're all safe inside the real world
 
For all we know, they could pull a giant "It was all a bad dream" crappy trick on us at the end...

I don't know. There's no way that Joss wants us to buy the info presented so far as-is. There's clearly something everyone is missing that will be revealed before Aftermath (the new arc that follows After the Fall in a month or so). Also, the last AtF issue's cover features major & minor characters that have died, so... but keep in mind that Lynch & Whedon have admitted that a lot of what takes place on the covers aren't canon because they're drawn before the issue's finished (one features Groo sporting his Angel-look, another has Angel & Spike facing off).

I really don't know what will happen, but I can't wait to find out.

Out of our theories within the fandom the whole "a duplicate of LA was sent to Hell with the real Team Angel" seems the least convoluted. The only problem I see with that one is why wouldn't Higher Power Cordy mention it to Team Angel (she's already had contact with Angel & Wes).

White Avenger points out all the flaws in the "LA is a Glamor" theory.

And I don't see Joss pulling an "It was all a dream" over on us.

But as others have said, by Spike & Betta George's Asylum buddies not knowing what's going on, it has legitimized the fact that the Scoobies are also clueless.
 
angel season 6 sounds very complicated.

i tried to read the compilation they have in bookstores and couldn't follow it at all.

You mean figuratively or literally? Angel was definitely in the world from BtVS S3-AtS S5.
 
Oh my god! was Xanders comment in Once More With Feeling prophetically true, when he referred to this as a crazy wacky nightmare, and that we'd all wake up with dances and songs. Will the end be just that, we (they) all wake up?

Now, a premise more like "The Matrix", where it's real because, well, it is real - to you, and to the world around you, because you're all caught up in the same persistent, simulated, world delusion.

I can buy WR&H having some wizard, somewhere, pulling something where the people of L.A. all think they've been sucked into hell. Or, the other way around - some wizard, somewhere, making the people of the world think everything's fine when they're actually all in hell, and in L.A. they've broken out of the "Matrix" and into the "real world". There's an Architect somewhere still feeding the Matrix-reality to the rest of the world, keeping the veil over it.

Another thought is that someone is feeding this "reality" directly into Angel's head, and he's actually trapped somewhere, living out this nightmare.

Ah, hell, I don't know. I've read only about half of ATF. It's hard to keep up with, hard to swallow, that book.

Sorry to say, but I read the first half-dozen pages of this month's After the Fall (comes out next week), and it indicates some type of "going back in the time line to fix things" plot device...

(fyi, both IDW & Dark Horse often release a half dozen preview pages of the upcoming Angel After the Fall & Buffy Season 8 issues a few weeks before they're put into circulation)
