More of a fair share of us have already obviously. But far from everyone. So if you haven't, why not?

Never heard of it?
Seems silly. Cowboys in space, really?
Don't like western? Science fiction?
Don't have a way of watching it?

We got plenty of doubters turning sides once they've watched it. Maybe you'll become one too? Let us know your reasons.

This is just out of curiousity, not to tell people they're stupid for not watching. There's not a single show that everyone likes. You just might miss out of something amazing and we (Yes I say we. 😀) want to share the love.

I highly attest to the fact that if you give it a try, you will probably love it. Ever since the promos for Firefly ran first-run I kept saying "That looks so stupid!" and I FINALLY watched the series and "Serenity" last year and now I'm so freakin' sad that we didn't get more. I ♥ these characters!

It's funny, I've had the set for about a year now, but I still haven't watched it. Just never got around to it. It's likely that I'll watch it after I finish Smallville though.

It is a combination of three things:
1. I am not a Western/cowpokey type girl.
2. I have nine tv shows going currently.
3. Everyone says you'll either love it or despise it, and I don't think I'll like it. My dad doesn't.

I said the SAME thing, except for the nine TV shows thing... My brother didn't like it much, so I didn't think I would either, and I totally fell in love.
I will say, though, that it took me a few episodes to get to that point. I think it was episode 4 where I finally felt like I knew the characters and wanted to see more.

(a) The premise. Doesn't catch my interest. I've never really been into westerns.
(b) I don't have time to become obsessed with yet another TV show because final year of school = must try to do work and study and TV obsession = major distraction. It's bad enough I'm Supernatural-obsessed 😀
(c) When I do watch TV it's mainly Glee, NCIS and Supernatural
(d) I don't want to pay the same amount for a 13-ep season as I would a 22-ep one (Yes, I'm cheap 😀).

Anyway, I'm off to finally watch the pilot now. 🙂

SPN karma!
All of the above reasons mean nothing. They haven't watched it because they don't allow TV in mental asylums. 😀

Yeah, me neither. The genre doesn't really do much for me, but that's not what makes it so great. It's a character driven show, not a genre one like Buffy.

If you were to ever start watching Firefly but don't much like the Western/Cowboy thing, I recommend you start with the episode Out of Gas. Not to spoilery, and gives you a real feel of who the characters are. It's kind of like the Restless of Firefly.

That was my problem and why it took me so long to watch. I kept buying shows that I thought were more worth the price. Finally I broke down.

I've seen Serenity a couple of times and I have watched the first 3 episodes of the series and I just didn't find any reason to keep watching.

Those were pretty much the two reasons why it took me so long to finally watch it. I've never been a big sci-fi or western fan. 😛 But I encourage anyone who have the same doubts to give it a chance. I was pleasantly surprised. The strong point of this show is definitely the characters. While the weak point is that it only has 14 episodes. 😉

O
OhWow
Wait..only 14 episodes in the whole series?
I've watched about half of it. The reason I'm not done yet is because I'm watching it with a group of friends, and I don't want to continue without them. So we have to work with all of our schedules to watch it.

If you don't like western or sci-fi what about it is it that you don't like? Tell us and we'll let you know if it fits to this show. Firefly isn't not typical in any sense.

I know how difficult it can be to convince people to watch something they don't think is their thing. I've only convinced one person to watch The West Wing. 🙁

For those I know taking some time to fall in love, including me (yes me), it's taken a little bit more than 3 episodes to fall in love. Personally I love the first episodes now that I rewatch but the first time around I was mostly confused.

Does this mean that you haven't watched Our Mrs Reynolds, Jaynestown, Out of gas, War stories, Trash or.... Hmm. I notice I've soon mentioned half the episodes.

As I said in the opening post, no show is loved by everyone. But if you have the time I'd wish you watched a few more episodes. Well all of them really. 😉

I have never really been into the space stuff. I mean I watched like an episode or two but I obviously did not understand it. I was trying to catch it on the Science channel every Sunday, but I missed the pilot and everything went downhill from there. I do want to give it a chance though..But cowboys in space does make me a bit skeptical. Somebody convince me!

It's not about cowboys in space. That's just a front. 😉 Ok, so there's some guns, spaceships but no aliens. What it is about is a group of people trying to do the good thing (and get by) by doing "bad". The heart of the show is the interaction between the characters. You think the scoobies had good chemistry? Well here you have a villain, a goofball, a warrior princess, the cutest mechanic you'll ever see, a prostitute, a stubborn, grumpy ex soldier with a heart of gold, a young insecure doctor that'll do anything to save his sister, a priest with a secret and a girl that in the end kick way more butt than Buffy.

And Mark Sheppard is in it.

Not sure that helped but there you go. 😛

OK, since you ask so nicely, I'll try to finish it off in the next few weeks. I should have some time for it. 🙂
