Buffy intentionally deciding not to bring weapons or use anyone's help makes it more of a case like that of a football team losing a game after two players got sent off and deciding for some reason to play the next game with nine men, just to prove they can win that way. Even if they miraculously win, this wouldn't make their plan any less risky and stupid.

Ugh, honestly I kind of feel like the 72 posts I made earlier in this thread were for nothing...I addressed a lot of these specific points already and while I am fine if you (and I expect you to) disagree with me, I am kind of bummed out that they are now going unacknowledged as though they were never made.
If you don't buy my reasoning as to why Buffy brings no weapons and why there was little "planning," (and if no one else jumps in to address those points), then instead of bringing up those arguments again, I think we should just focus on the big picture. Some of us see this as an empowering symbolic episode which in a lot of ways reminds us of why we love Buffy's character so much, (it's all about chutzpah guys!) and there really isn't much more to say about it!

I'm with you. This episode reminded me why I love Buffy as a character. No matter what, she always finds a way to prevail. Buffy fighting the ubervamp like that may have been stupid and dangerous, but she had to show those girls that she did truly believe they could win. Otherwise they would have all succumbed to their nerves and they would have failed miserably.
