why people hate spike?

i like spike, he's great with dru, great as bad, he's great in s4... i just don't like him beng all good, even tough spike can be great confuced... i think he's best as bad... he isafter all "William the bloody"😀
 
I have no idea how any1 can possibly hate spike/James Marsters! He is awesome at acting and he's the hottest person I have ever seen in my entire life! Buffy/Angel is the best show ever! In fact, I'm watching Buffy on FX right now!

Here's why I don't like Spike:
1) Way to much screen time- I don't know if he's performing fellatio on Joss Whedon or something, but he just gets way to much focus.
2) No one staked him, even after he was chipped! Buffy should've staked him the second that she had the chance. That means in Season 3, as soon as she knew that her friends were safe, she could've thrown a stake in his back as he was walking away. And there were plenty of opportunities to do so during seasons 4-6. Once he had the soul, I can see a case for not killing him, but I'd still prefer him dead
3) Upstaging plotlines. Buffy is about female empowerment. Who saves the day in Chosen, the series finale, oh right, it was Spike.
4) He brought Clem in. Clem is annoying. Go away Clem, you aren't funny.
5) it's so obvious he was brought in as an Angel stand in. At the very least they could've waited a half season before reintroducing him, to make it less blatant. Losing David Boreanaz was a big blow to the show, but they should've strived to hold on to Seth Green and improved Riley's character, rather than bring in another superpowered immortal.
 
Why do I have a feeling that when everyone complains about Spike taking too much screen time away from Buffy and the scoobies that they wouldn't seem to mind if it was Angel getting the time if he were still on the show? I think that's sad.
 
ok watcherwes i totally disagree w/ u. i know we r allowed to have our own opinions but dang how much do u think about hating spike!? i think him having screen time is totally awesome! and i'm soooo glad they didn't stake him! and spike died for buffy and the rest of the world so i think he should be called a hero! and clem is an awesome character! and the guy who plays him (James C. Leary) is one of the sweetest guys I have EVER met! he let me have a pic. w/ him AND he gave me his autograph for FREE! so idk what u r talking about! and rayne u have a point, y do people who hate spike taking up screen time not care about when angel takes up screen time?

Well, they would all probably say that it's because he has his own show but ya know. if he didn't I believe it would be the same. Not to mention that Spike has become such an amazig in depth character it's a shame not to give that attention. I think maybe some people, not saying anyone that likes Angel mind you because Angel rocks too, are maybe afraid that Spike is a more interesting character hence some of the fear of him going to Angel. He isn't going to take over the show. I just hope that people don't start flipping out just because they give him some equal attention. I think that everyone is too touchy when it comes to this subject. Even Spike lovers. They are both great characters so so what if a good amount of screen time is given to the more interesting characters. They all get a lot of their own attention. I think people just notice when it's given to Spike more because his screen presence is so strong it's hard NOT to notice him there. I never thought he was given more than the other characters over all.
 
Rayne, you're right, I wouldn't have minded if Angel got Spike's screen time. I enjoy Angel more. JamesWMLover, I never made any judgement on James Leary as a person, just that Clem was a crappy character.

how can say that? clem ad spike both brought fun into a already kick @$$ show! by the way james c. leary is really hot with out all his makeup and stuff on!😛:-*
 
I can say it pretty easily, Spike was a wus in season 6, and didn't add any fun. Clem was never funny. I'm not making any judgements on the actors that play them. UPN Buffy got really bad. I was basically watching for Xander, and towards the end of season 7, Faith. A big part of the crappiness of the UPN eps, in my opinion, was Spike. Hence my dislike of the character and his making the jump to Angel.
 
i think spike was/is one of the BEST part of the show!

Why do people hate Spike?

Boy that question hits a spot in me.

You know, if you actually check out how much screen time Spike had in season 7--you'll find on the clock it wasn't more than other characters--except for Xander who was totally dropped off the ball. It is a testament to him--that whatever time he had he made the most of. Gellar totally dropped her performance in 7--completely passive agressively holding back--one of the first defensive things she or her husband said in a post season interview were things like "I was always, there I always showed up regardless"--now why would she say that unless she was feeling guilty?

I'm saying Marsters showed up totaly did his job hot or no he is a professional. And I think Angel fans want to dis him so bad because he opened up his heart as an actor in a way DB (I'M NOT dissing him, DB is a great John Wayne kind of actor but as an actor with access to his emotions--no he can't do it like JM)

So people feel threatened by all that love coming from Spike because Angel can't match the intensity of it. Notice no one is jealous of Riley?

So now JM is catching the blows for being a great actor and opening his heart and taking these enormous risks and why do we all think the only valid emotion for a man to have is anger?

I am so gonna miss beautiful soulfull Spike. I used to replay some of his (on the clock) maybe 3 minute scenes.

Just begging to meet a guy willing to do that--not run away--instead work on himself, open himself--you all can have those bad boys--always thought he was a good actor in the past--but season 7 is when I fell. Couldn't get enough of those eyes.

I think Angel fans want the bad boy back because then they know he won't be a threat to Angel/Buffy.

But lets be honest would anyone realy wanna hang around Michael Jackson stuck forever in an old idea of himself? What might have been funny or charming in a season 2,3,4. or even 5 Spike now if they go all neo I think will be just obscene. Once you grow to a certain level you can't fall that far back--it's insane and grotesque.

I'm afraid I will begin to hate the Spike on Angel--if he falls that far back that he tries to hurt Angel all the time--well I've got no time for that or support that kind of small meanness and I won't like him anymore. Which I think is what the B/A fans want.

A man can challenge Angel for Buffy but a regressed immature snotty smirking Spike cannot.

We are we so hard on men who risk loving and becoming humble and taking the risk to do the hard work on themselves?

Why DO people hate Spike? It is a question for our culture.
 
I have to say that I really was an avid Spike fan, unitl I saw season 7. I think they really portrayed his character badly. I mean I love Spikes character, but when they give him that whole, I don't want to live, let me die, give me sympathy attitude, it takes away from that great villian/side kick Spike that most of us had come to love. I'm really glad thought that he will be returning to be on Angel. I think that his charcter will do well on the show. Having Angel and Spike together is another great plot that the wonderful writers and producers have come up with. Can't wait unitl the premiere.
 
I have become such a bigger hater of Spike now. He really did take over in S7. I am dreading he will take over Angel too.
 
i don't think he'd take over angel but i don't c how any1 can hate him..he's so...wat's the word i'm lookin for...SEXY!
 
Isa, u have a point. y do people hate guys who take a chance and love? spike loves buffy so much and hasn't given up on her since he fell for her. it doesn't make any sence (to me) y people hate him so much. don't get me wrong, i'm a big angel fan too, but i think the spike character has so many layers and he can be so outgoing! i just love him so much! (hence the name)
