why people hate spike?

Isa, I think you put that so perfectly that it could very doubtfully have been written better. I couldn't agree with something more. Everything I have felt (very strongly I might add) about this topic of Spike and his character development and ALL of it, you just put across so well as I could not seem to. Cheers to you! If they ruin his development for something as petty as a relationship between Buffy and Angel I would be beyond disgusted. And I honestly don't see one thing that makes Angel a better man than Spike. I love Angel but it just isn't fair to be so down on such a great character.

Angel has to be good in order to gain redemption.
Spike CHOSE to be good, even without a soul or a chip, because he loves this world he unlives in.
Spike has been fighting all his demonic instincts for so long he's become more human than any other known vampire. All those nice little human traits he displayed even in season 2 show us that he's a complex vampire and so much more than angel. He's a faithful lover (very uncommon for vampires), he hasn't killed humans for some time, he likes hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows, he watches Tv soap operas and series, he respected Joyce as much as his own mother, etc. He decided to save the world on more than one occasion because he doesn't want it to disappear. He likes it too much.
He IS the better vampire where Angel is concerned but doesn't confront him because he still respects his grandsire although Angel abandoned his duty more than a 100 years ago... THAT's the kind of man he really is.
Still the Big Bad where demons are concerned( remember he is a Master Vampire in his own right, with no help from Angel) but a real soft heart where most humans are concerned, specially those related to the Slayer, whom he helps even when he doesn't want any credit for it.
 
i don't hate spike,he rocks(when evil,when he's good is a nancy boy).i don't like spuffy...spiffy sucx....spike deserves a gilr who really loves him

I show pic of Spike to my friends at school and they said that he was the ugliest person they had ever seen. Of course I slaped them after they said it. They said they didn't like him because his hair looks like cheese and his cheek bones show up to clearly. So you wanted to know and I told you.
 
I don't hate Spike i just don't like the way the character is around buffy. i'm not a fan of the buffy/spike coupling. I love spike though, but he should have seen the light and gone with a certain dark-haired slayer instead!
 
I didn't start hating Spike until Season 6. He was once one of my favorite character, but not anymore. His character is forever ruined for me. I am a huge fan of Spike when he was a badass though, thats when he was at his best.
 
I love Spike's character. It's gone from strength to strength without turning broody unlike some big glowering poofter. I'm kinda getting tired of everyone ripping the shizznik out of Spike because they are Bangel shippers (which btw sounds so bloody strange saying aloud!), I like Buffy and Angel together, I like Buffy and Spike together. Both relationships are great but Spike made Buffy feel more loved, and made her realise her potiental than other than a slayer. But like real life, your first love will always be in your heart.
Marsters is damn good at his accent, I'm a pom and I critise everyone who puts on a english accent (especially that potental slayer, annabelle??, god that was bad!). But he's really good at it! I seriously commend him for it.
 
I know very little people that hate spike (except for bangels), I don't know, he looks good, he's funny and honoust, what can I say... rock 'n roll!
 
You're not bangel, you're Magui, that's a whole different story!
 
I used to like Spike during S2-5 but then I just got to much of him in S6-7 and it just hardened my heart when it comes to him he became annoying to me and I found him to become all whiney when it came to Buffy, but there were some episodes like 1 or 2 in Season7 where I liked him. But like I said they just put to much of him on for me to handle and I went into a hate over load. But im somewhat fine with him in S5 of Angel.

But I don't hate him because I am a Bangel shipper. I dislike him lately because I dislike the character he has become. And I dislike the fact how they overused Spike in Season 6-7, which was one of my reasons against him on AtS.

Sorry, just want to point out that I don't like him simply because I like Bangel (cause I love Riley, and I liked the Briley relationship) its just something about his character from Season 6 up where I started to feel nothing but apathy towards him.
