In my time on BB, I've noticed a lot of wacky usernames. Do any of them have a story or reasoning behind them?
My username, Valjavertjinn, is a combinantion of two characters from my favorite musical/book, Les Miserables. Valjean and Javert make up the first part, while Jinn, a Star Wars character I though was cool (Liam Neeson!) makes up the last part.

Great thread idea :)
I was watching "Living Conditions" and strongly considering (re)joining the boards in order to join in the discussions I was lurking around, and thinking about what in the world my username would be. And then Buffy said: "Gum Gnome?" 😀

The White Avenger came into being as a character in a computer game called "Wizardry," similar to Dungeons and Dragons. He was one of several characters that I created, and the one who seemed to always accumulate all of the points every time that we played. He sort of became a good luck symbol for me.

(On a negative note. totally unknown to me, a white supremacist set up a website several years ago using White Avenger as his pseudonym. Happily, his site was short lived, but while it was on, I was always afraid that some of my friends would confuse me with him)

Nice thread I'm always fascinated by how people came to pick their usernames. As for myself I usually always try to go for a unique or obscure nickname, but this time I thought I'd just go with a normal common sounding name. I suppose in a nutshell the name was inspired from a character from Dead Rising 2.

well, my name actually does not have anything to do with poking baby cats.... It's a reference to the demon's use of kittens as currency when playing poker.

🙂

I wanted 'sunnydaze' or 'rainydaze' at first, because 'daze' was meant to be a clever roundabout way of meaning 'days', but Livejournal had those taken up already. So 'drizzlydaze' was born, and the Livejournal name carried onto BB.

One of my first memories of Buffy is her in the wedding dress.. also, when I was a kid my dad called me princess, and I was probably the only kid around here he watched Buffy, so they called me Buffy in school. Two main reasons for my username.

Enemies is my nickname because its my favourite Buffy episode. Its the one I can always remember getting super excited about seeing when I first started watching Buffy.

I was trying to come up with a screen name and looked at the books on my desk. One was Wicked by Gregory MacGuire and the other was Sword Born but Jennifer Roberson. The main character of that second book is named Tiger.

So Wicked + Tiger and 86 is the year I was born. 😀

As many know by now mine is from a Norweigan band that I love called, well obviously - Taake (pronunciation might be tricky for non-scandinavians I've come to realise later on 🙂), I suspect I was just listening to them as I registered to the boards and I had a lack of original ideas 🙂

In my head I pronounce it "Tah-ka" lol
Okay, way back when Buffy was on The WB, and there was still a WB, I was a part of the official Buffy community, the Bronze. It was a fabulous place and I was on there pretty much every day, and I had the most amazing time. My name back then was SpikesBabe. Then, when Buffy got dropped by The WB, that whole comunity shut down. I was at a loss of what to do, where to go, and stuff. No, seriously. I had absolutely no clue what to do. One poster posted about a new forum for the members aka Bronzers. It was called The BronzeShelter. I signed up there, still as SpikesBabe.

However, as the season went on, I grew disillusioned with Spike. I did not enjoy the direction they were taking him. So, I had to think of a new name. During all of this, I came into friendships with a group of girls were Faith and Faith/Buffy fans. We called ourselves the Misfits.

So I thought of a Faith-based name, FaithsFollower. I have been using it ever since. If you come across FaithsFollower online, chances are it's probably me.

I think my current one speaks for itself if you're familiar of all Joss Whedon's work. It suits me better than my old one.

I'll add my former username as well. The Kinslayer. 1. I thought something with slayer suited a place dedicated to a show about a vampire slayer. 2. It's a song, although not my favourite, by Nightwish. 3. Ehh, I know there's a third reason. Stupid memory.

Well.... I was as few might remember, yeti, then I changed my name to Seeing Red. I chose it because I wanted something full of passion, Buffy related, and that was personal to me. Seeing Red, fit perfectly. 🙂

I think I've told this story about 3 times already on the boards. There seems to be a thread like this every 6 months or so lol. I was handing out a newspaper called the Quokka (which is also a little rat sized wallaby creature that is only found local to where I live) when one of the guys I was working with called me an Ocker Quokka cos after hearing about my weekend, he thought I was a total bogan. (Ocker/Bogan is the typical singlet and thongs aussie person who has a beer and a smoke in hand). I changed the spelling cos OckerQuokka looked too much like cockerquokka so it became OccaQuokka.
