Why the huge Spike hate?

Well imo it was one of sorts, abet a twisted one. It did of course develop into more during season 7 of course.

No other character is defended with such maximum intensity by their followers. Maybe its a spill-off from early 'shipping wars' or whatever but it doesn't matter and its in no way justified. The end result is that for many it just damages the perception of Spike. Can't debate about him rationally= vastly over-rated/utterly boring.

Fine - then you resent what some people say when you express your opinion.
They resent what you say.
Both are busy crying havoc and resenting being categorized.

Like this - Spike fans/haters:
Are all of one mind
The are all so unreasonable and emotional.
No matter what, as soon as some subject like this is brought up you know exactly hos they will respond
Wash rinse repeat.

I told you before - I am me. I do not address you calling you responsible for all Spike haters. Shall I I try this?
If you don't like/hate Spike and see how great/horrible he is then you're called a hater/fan, or irrational or basically that you're watching the wrong show because you don't get the 'greatness'/horror of the later seasons and SpuffyBangel.

And there you go casually asserting that I am a hater- something you (and a few other Spike-fan) have done often in the past. 😡

I'm starting to get really tired of it, so much so that I'm just not going to debate this any more with the likes of you.

Btw- there are Spike-fans on these very boards who know and are friendly with. If I wish to discuss Spike with them I now do it in PM. Works much better that way.

Just as you casually assume I am a fan who therefore must do that. I've defended you and others from being called haters because it's lazy and dumb thinking. Like deciding that little 'likes of you' bit.

I kinda like you, but if you want to ignore me, feel free.

Nah, y'see I go by personal experience- as in things that have actually happened to me.

And, candidly, you've done the exact opposite. You've 'liked' comments where I've been directly accused of being a hater- which is as good as agreement in my book.

The circle game. We all enjoy it. Gives us a chance to feel abused and unheard? Maybe it's all nothing more than venting from the day. But thanks!
 
I think It's not just a Buffyverse thing, but a fandom thing in general. Some like to stick to their own ideas of what certain fans/fandoms are about and just don't waver from that whatever else they see/read. Everybody is guilty to some extent.

I think Angel/Spike fans can be overly sensitive about their fandom loves is because of the old shipper wars back then, and some of us have got very long memories. 🙂
 
I'm just going to close this now, it's been dormant for a while and woke up to go nowhere.
Also oops, usually we cut threads off at around 200 posts... I can see I've been napping on the job since this'll be 290. Anyway, thread will be closed, if you wish to continue the circle game you may start a new thread. 🙂
