A great part of why I've grown to love her, is that she's not your typical main character. She's most definitely no "where's the camera, I demand attention" character, but has a very kind, quiet, shy personality, which, sadly, gets people overlooked a lot. I could identify with that a little. And even as someone who watches the show, I think you have to grow to like her and you might not even notice it when you start to. I know I didn't notice I liked her that much until I saw Seeing Red for the first time, so I was pretty Tara-focused on my first rewatch, once Oz (whom I also love dearly) was out of the picture.
I pretty much agree with your entire post.
The reason I love Tara so much, and she is my favorite character, is because I can identify myself with her the most out of the entire cast (apart from Faith sometimes for odd reasons lol) She pretty much has a fairytale story if you think of it. Her character development is mostly what drives people to just love her. When we first see her, she is this extraordinarily shy girl, whom like most other shy girls, has the whole social awkwardness going on, and has the stuttering problem. I know when I was in HS and college, I had the same problem. It's just really nice to see Tara slowly come out of her shell, not only with Willow's help, but with everyone else's help as well. In my opinion, Tara had the most character development for the amount of screen-time she had. We see have these ups and downs , just like any of us would.
I mean it's a huge difference seeing her in Hush, stuttering all the time and super shy and afraid to voice out her opinions, and then seeing her in Older and Farther Away, when we see her marking snarky comments to Spike(when usually she would just not comment) and defend Willow against Anya against her decision of not using magicks. She had definitely gone a long way. I remember the time Buffy told her about Spike and all, and how I felt that's exactly what would happen in real life. Tara is totally a reliable person to share your feelings with. She knows what it is like to be shunned and teased and all, so she wouldn't to do it to others. She is a very considerate person.
In all, I think it's the main reason why most viewers felt the impact of Tara's death more than Joyce's, because it was easier to identify themselves with her.
I also like that she's more curvy than most women on TV without getting called "fat", because that she is not.
Definitely. In my opinion, everyone else on the show is too dang skinny, except for season 1&2. I don't think anyone could have played her part any better than Amber did, and I am so glad that Joss called her back after he told her he didn't want her.
EDIT:ummm I didn't realize this was so long! Summary= I love Tara lol
