Why the Tara Love?

I think I'd met Amber Benson at a signing after only seeing two or three of her episodes- and possibly not even that much- but she was such a warm and chatty person that I was predisposed in Tara's favour. With Tara I get the impression that the production team knew that this character was coming along and put just an extra bit of fine detail into the way she was written and directed so as to be able to hold her own on screen with the established characters played by actors who'd been doing it for 3-4 years.

Although there's a very definite character development arc for Tara- and a very subtle and dry sense of humour too- I do think that after two years there wasn't really anywhere else for her to go after she'd come out of her shell and become more like a normal person. Tara is the price Willow pays for bringing Buffy back from the dead, and her death pushes the ongoing story forward in a way that she never could as a living character.

I love Tara mainly because she was a nice, warm girl that was different from the rest of the characters. She was quiet and shy, but she stood up for herself when she thought she was right, which was first shown in season 5 when her family came. Also, she really cared about Willow and that's one the things that makes their relationship amazing, in my opinion.

Everything! I love everything about Tara (and believe me I loved Oz too).

Let's see;

1. Dawn's favourite aunt
2. Cat lover
3. Her cleavage🙂
4. Great singer
5. Friend for Anya who wasn't a hardcore scooby
6. One of xanders three favourite girls
7. Friend and confidant for Buffy in later half of season 6
8. Naked lesbian sex😀
9. Comforts Buffy and Dawn after they lose Joyce
10. Protects Willow from a panicked Anya
11. Protects Buffy from a lustful Spike
12. Grounds Willow's magic

Couldn't have said it better myself...especially 3 and 8!!!

Mainly the reason I love Tara's character so much is basically what others here have said. You can connect to her because she's someone that many can relate too like the stuttering which I have a bit of and some BB members, you know who you are, have witnessed! Plus it was nice to see someone a bit different than the so called 'wanted' body standards that are usually required to be in "showbiz" and she proved otherwise with amazing curves. She was and still is a very beautiful, strong role model for those in need of someone to connect to, which can be hard in the real world, so finding a character like this on a show they adore just makes it even better in my opinion. 🙂

Why I love Tara

Reasons I love Tara:

1: She helped rescue Willow from the Gentlemen.
2: She was loyal(i.e. she didn't turn Dawn over for being the Key when Glory broke her hand)
3: She loved Willow.
4: She's gorgeous.
5: She actually cared.
6: She was a terrific parental figure for Dawn.
7: She was protective.
8: She rescued the Scoobies from a looney tune Buffy!
9: She axed a demon to defend Willow.
10: When it came right down to it, she was the only Scooby that didn't freak out or look disappointed/disgusted with Buffy when Buffy told her she was sleeping with Spike.

Tara was one of my favorite characters on the show. I truly believe that she was one of the strongest of the Scoobies. Watching Tara in the episode FAMILY inspired me to leave a not so healthy relationship I was in, so I am definitely ALWAYS going to be in her corner! Her whole character brought a sense of calm to the show when the Scoobies' worlds were completely turned upside down.:biggrin3:

Great list! #9 The axing, her first is often overlooked... 😉 Nice comments too Ms. TaraFanatic! 😉

Nice post in addition to the forwarded list! Really from the heart, well said. 🙂

Oh yeah, it was Amber Benson's (Tara's) birthday two days ago, so

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TARA/AMBER!

Totally agreed.
Especially "one of the strongest of the Scoobies".

Tara reminds me of myself and I really love her and look up to her. She's the nicest and sweetest character on the show and I don't know why she wasn't in more episodes. I was so upset when she died. I don't get why people don't like her. She was a light of goodness.

EXACTLY! She was just so nice and just a breath of fresh air. I find the reason people don't like her, is because she didn't have enough screen time. I wonder if she did have more screen time, if their opinions would have changed.

I had to start here as Tara's my favourite character on the show.
I have to say I wasn't fond of her at first, she was a little weird, but I fell in love with her while watching The I in Team. I realized how sweet she was and I was completely...well, under her spell! Tara is so many things...she's sweet, caring, honest, strong-minded, talented, powerful, funny at times...She also has a great evolution as she became stronger and stronger, she started making jokes more often, standing up to Willow etc. I don't know, I just love who she is and I would love to have a friend like her. But yeah of course it's not fair to compare her to other important characters because she's not a main character, she wasn't even in the opening credit, so she didn't have the chance to be as well developed as Spike or Buffy, or Willow...

I agree with all of this. :)
I never liked Tara, she was boring in my opinion. I was never able to relate to her, so her shyness got kind of annoying after a while. I was surprised when she died, but it was necessary to move the story along, and Dark Willow was just awesome

Why not, lol? 😀 She's sweet, funny, and tender-hearted. She listens to people and cares about their feelings. She grows to have an important voice and play an important role in the Scooby gang. I think people like her even more after her death because it was just so tragic and shocking.
I so agree with this.

She's kind and warm and sweet and understanding and easily the most decent person on the show. She's also strong, and gorgeous... and she actually has a body. I mean, I love Buffy and Willow... but damn are they thin.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with her.

How can you not love her?😕

Tara is AMAZING!!!!

She's there's for Willow when she needs her most. She tries to be kind and be there for everyone else. She protects Willow from Anya when Anya tried to force her to use magic. She was there for Buffy after Spike hurt her. She spends one on one time with Dawn when no one else does.

She's just all around AWESOME!!!!
