I was watching Angel five by five and sanctuary the other day. and when Faith went to jail, something occurred to me. Only Faith gets jailed for killing people.

Willow killed Warren
Andrew killed Jonathan
Giles killed Ben
Lorne killed Lindsey
Gunn killed Fred's professor
Angel killed Vanessa the Blind woman from Blind Date

there are more i cant remember.
Now i understand that most of these people couldnt be sent to jail, and i understand these were mostly different circumstances. I just find it unfair that Faith had to go to jail for years but the others get away with it because of special circumstances.

That's right. And earlier I was trying to assert that Xander bears some negligent, indirect responsibility for the human deaths in OMWF.

Angel also killed Connor and Drogyn. Buffy killed some knights of Byzantium, and that assassin in the skating rink.

Faith didn't so much "get jailed" as she chose jail. No human jail could hold her if she didn't choose to be there.

If she'd followed the game rules she would have gone with the watchers, and had them deal with it when it first happened. From what Giles said, it sounded like that would have been a kinder alternative.

Doesn't Andrew say something in Season 7 about finishing the fight with Buffy then paying for his crime? I think maybe he was going to take the Faith route of turning himself in. Sounds like he didn't from Damage though.

I wonder if Faith chose to go back to jail?

For a breif second I thought you were talking about me then, oh dear.

Hmm well Willow was evil, consumed by magic and all that, its the same "get-out-of-jail-free-card" that Spike has.

Andrew went to the jail that was the potential-filled Summers house. Its close I'd imagine.

To be fair, whats odder, Lorne wasn't arrested for killing Lindsey or Lorne hasn't been arrested for being a demon who owns a bar?

The others, I'd just imagine there was cover up stories, as Ben, Fred's Professor and Vanessa didn't exactly have a big circle of friends and family by the looks of things. Plus, its bad to say this but people in jail is less interesting, I mean look at "Free the Weatherfield One" (another British pop culture reference) and how quickly fans wanted Deeidre out.

I always thought I'd be nice if after S7 the police let Faith off because she saved the world, but knowing the Buffyverse they probably would have arrested her for destroying Sunnydale.

Yeah I'm trying not to get into Faith discussions but just wanted to agree... gah, this annoys me a lot, mhm...
Like your pionts

ok So Here's what I think. Willow killed Warren She was consumed by magic. Yes I don't want to say thats thats why but I think it is she wanted him dead and she took all power means to kill him. Willow I think would be the one that had to the most likely of all to go to jail of the ones you named. She did go with Giles though to get help form him.

As for Andrew killed Jonathan Andrew was taken over by the frist. I don't really think it was him. But as Xander said he went to the jail that was the potential-filled Summers house.

Then for Giles killed Ben. Ben had to be killed to not have Grloy come back. I think it was more everyone knew Ben had to be killed just it was up to whom.
Lorne killed Lindsey Deamon thats all I say Yes he was a good deamon but still.

Gunn killed Fred's professor I think in his own way Gunn put himself in a jail. He killed to stop Fred from doing it.

And as for Angel do you really think he would trun himself in one hes a vamprie two je did kill before why is this on any driffent...

All these things I knew. i just thought it unfair that Fiath was pressurised into going to jail. especially by buffy. buffy never made anyone else go. not even andrew!

i do get the points though. just ranting 🙂

Faith going to jail was never from anyones "pressure". Maybe Buffy insistance helped her realize that jail was what she really needed, but she made the choice on her own. As it's been said before, no "civilian" jail can hold her, so it was Faith's own will that kept her in there.

Willow was consumed by magic, and even so, I'd like to see someone with the heart, and knowledge of what Warren did, actually convict her. I know I wouldn't think twice about it. Buffyverse was better off without him. Period.

Andrew was indeed taken over by "evil" which in a way, is the First. But it happened when Robin Wood stepped on the seal as well. (There are a lot of continuity errors dealing with that seal 😛) But anyhow, evil made him kill Jonathan. Besides, if you had your, supposed to be dead, best-friend, telling YOU to do things, wouldn't you make some un-wise choices too?

Giles killed Ben to stop Glory.. The End.

Haven't seen Lorne kill Lindsey... But he's green... Come on!

Haven't seen the Gunn killing Fred's professor, but from what I hear, it was for Fred's own good, and she's a hottie... So yay! 😛

And Angel killing the Blind Woman, okay... I'm drawing a blank on this one... I'm assuming you mean the one that murdered, and got away with it because she was blind. And yea... Hmmm innocent children murdered... Oooor crazy blind woman who murders innocent children... Wow tough choice... I know you "shouldn't" kill humans... But someone who takes lives without any sign of regret, that makes them no longer human... Just like a vampire, and people have no problem with killing vampires.

To end the whole Faith=Jail, and no one else THING.... She needed help. Everyone realized that before her, but she did realize it, and that makes her stronger than any of them. She could have carried on the way she was, but she could see where she was headed, and she wanted to change... Sure others needed help too... Willow, Andrew... But theirs came in different forms... Faith needed corrections for that help 😉

Also, Faith killed the Mayor's assistant. He was high profile, and his death was all over the news, therefore someone had to get prosocuted. All the other deaths were relatively insignificant, and no-one would miss the person who was dead.

Just what I thought, civilian deaths are second to none in Sunnydale hence not a big deal
Also I'd like to point out again, Faith wasn't arrested. She turned herself in. This is something Buffy was also going to do when she thought she'd killed the civilian Katrina in Dead Things.

Another interesting point would be how difficult it would be to prosecute these crimes in a human court even if they did go to trial.

Willow killed Warren: The prosecutor is going to have to show how Willow could have committed the crime, and he's going to have to put Willow at the scene without witnesses (the Scoobs aren't going to testify.)

Andrew killed Jonathan: Jonathan's body was buried and never recovered. As far as anyone knew Jonathan was still hiding out in Mexico.

Giles killed Ben: Try to find a witness for that one.

Lorne killed Lindsey: In a room full of dead demons, and does the human world even know Lorne exists? What I mean is; what's his social security number?

Gunn killed Fred's professor: Right...Find that body. 🙂

It scares me how much of a criminal mastermind you are
Does Lorne even have fingerprints? His heart's in his ass, for starters. I'd like to see a CSI episode in Angel/Buffy. I guess when they figured out that Cordi was possessed by Jasmine, did all those nasty things, that was kinda CSI, deductive reasoning stuff.

Actually, pure procedural shows, Law&Order and such are boring to me. But a twisted parody in the 'verse would be fun.

I guess that kind of style existed a little bit in Angel season 1, when he was a regular gumshoe with a friend on the force.

We have to think about it in the mortal terms, not the supernatural.

Warren's death had no connection to Willow because she didn't use a knife to skin him, or anything like that.

Wasn't Jonathan's body absorbed or something to unleash that seal stuff?

Sunnydale police could have thought that Ben died from a fall. The tower was there and he was pretty beat up with the broken ribs and all.

Lorne disappeared before they found the body.

The professor... the one that sent Fred to the other dimension? Wasn't he sucked into the dimension too, so no body.

It was in the bad part of town so... mugging gone bad?

I thought that Wood found his body on the seal and buried it elsewhere later.

That's what I think too.

Oh, I don't remember..
Just because the police can't find a body doesn't make it a smaller crime, but I don't think the question here should be weather you would get convicted for your crime or not. The fact that Faith went to jail was because she realized that it was what she needed, she wasn't put there by something else..

No, the crimes aren't smaller because of the lack of a body, but the police won't continue a case if there's a confession but no body and no witnesses willing to testify. I can see it now:

Willow: "I'm Willow, and I'd like to confess to flaying a guy alive."

Desk Sergeant: "Really, miss, where did you do this?"

W: "Out in the woods."

DS: "And will we find a body when we get there."

W: "No, he was burned to cinders and then everything disappeared."

DS: "Right. Miss, do you need a ride home? Is there a facility we can return you to?"

You could confess all you like, but if there's no evidence they'll ignore you. Faith left a body in an alley. The others where a body was present could have other explanations, and no body+no witnesses =no charges.

Didn't she got rid of the body? I thought she had thrown it into water or something? The sad thing was that they still found the body after that, a this man no one carred about... ha la la Joss... lol

LMao, this little scene with Willow wouldn't have indeed been very likely to happen, hehe

n4h : Are you a detective or do you work for some government things like CIA? 😉 :: teeth :

The thing is, Faith never would have been convicted of anything, had she not turned herself in. She would have gotten away with it, just like everyone else... So it's not about whether or not there would have been a conviction. Faith murder was accidental, although you'll be hard pressed to find someone who believes a Vampire Slayer... Of all the murders, she was the most innocent, but given the circumstances, she would have been the only one convicted...

(I'm talking about the first murder... The Mayor's assistant... I know there were more, but that was the one that sent her off...)

I think that it was somewhat unfair that Faith is the only one in jail. But, as stated, she chose to go to jail. And maybe that makes her more reformed than anyone. Faith chose to fix the path that she had started on, and now she's changing it.

Do you guys think that she went back to jail after "Chosen" or is she training potentials now in Europe. I really hope that she is helping with potentials. She helped save the world, got a piece of being leader, and now I think she is ready. I don't think that she needs to go back. She's totally changed her attitude.

i doubt she went back. she probably went somewhere with Wood. that was the deal after all. you never get to find out what happens to Xander either.

The last time we heard of Xander, he was in Southeast Africa where you find the Mbuna fish
No Willow and Kennedy were in Brazil.

ANDREW
Well, mostly, I talk to Rupert. But we all check in. Xander's in Africa. He sent me an mbuna fish. And Willow and Kennedy are in brazil. They're based in Sao Paulo, but, um, every time I talk to them, they're in Rio.
