Why was Spike the only vamp to get a gun to kill Buffy?

Just finished watching Fool for Love again...and it made me wonder why no vampire other than Spike had gotten a gun to kill Buffy.
I mean, if I were a vampire and I knew the Slayer killed my kind with various martial arts moves, it would make perfect sense to avoid a fight with her. Getting a gun and just blowing her away makes a lot more sense, right?
 
This is why the identity of the slayer is always kept as a secret. Giles made that very clear starting from S1. If too many people know about it, they could just bomb Buffy's house when she's asleep.
 
Probably for the same reason that so few vampires wear some sort of armor as protection against stakes and why almost all vampire/demon hunters limit themselves to archaic weapons like swords, axes, and stakes rather than trying to develop something more modern and efficient. (Give the Initiative credit, one of the things that they seemed to be working on there in Sunnydale was more powerful, efficient weaponry.)

Joss wanted it that way.

As for a reason within the Buffyverse, maybe it's an ego thing. None of the other vampires needed any sort of weaponry. Remember what Spike said about a Slayer always having to reach for her weapon, while his was always with him? Well, by the time we see Spike with a shotgun, the Initiative had effectively disarmed him of all of his natural weapons by installing his behavior chip. Spike is the only vampire who can't bite people, so he's the only one (Darla didn't need guns, she had probably just eaten an NRA member, and something wore off) who would actually need a gun.

Some did, earlier on. Remember that group of vampire assassins or whatever they were? There was the one that had claw hands. Others had other kinds of weapons.

True. I had forgotten about them. Still, the weapons that they used, as near as I can recall, were the same as Slayers and other vampire hunters used. All archaic, edged weapons or some sort of bludgeons. I don't remember them using any modern firearms.
 
Don't forget, one of the assassins of the Order of Taraka went to the school careers day disguised as a police officer and fired at Buffy, missing her but hitting Oz. Technically, she was not a vampire but she was one of the forces of evil who used a gun.
 
I suppose it's because a lot of the demons and vampires Buffy faced were ancient, hundreds of years old and never evolved with the times. Either that, or they were from dimensions where guns just don't exist. We've seen that Lorne's home world had nothing like guns or other weapons like it, and I image other demons would have been the same. It's also possible that there are demons that Buffy faced that just don't have the mental capacity to use a gun.

There's nothing wrong with that information. Spike wasn't the only vampire to use a gun clearly, this helps inform how guns are used on the show. Darla seems to use them to toy with Buffy in season one and then we don't see any again until season 5 when Spike is desperate (he clearly had the gun but had not considered using it earlier...)

... so either all the vampires were unable to get a hold of guns, or they were too old to think about them (probably not in case of the majority since many were very freshly made) or it simply didn't fit the theme of the show so it was pretty much conveniently written out of the show's context.

Basically, the reason why vampires don't use guns on BtVS is because the writers didn't want them to. It's a pretty lame explanation in terms of the in-world logic, but it's really not logical for them not to... clearly guns exist, there's no reason to think that vamps and demons wouldn't be able to handle guns, so really it's all about how modern weaponry clashes with the idea of the ancient vamp-slayer battle.
