Why was the first slayer so p***ed off in Restless?

I get that they evoked the spirit of the first slayer in the previous episode, but why was she trying to kill them all?

I love Restless but her motive has always seemed a bit amiguous to me. Was she just jealous because when she was alive she was all alone whereas Buffy has friends?

I don't think it was jealousy, I always thought she was angry because of the way Buffy handled things and how she went against part of what being a slayer was all about before, working alone, without any friends or family.

Well in season 7 we find out how she became the slayer; an essentially kidnapped young girl, tethered to chains while she went through the agonising process of demon spirit being shoved in her forcing her to no longer be normal, to fight evil till she died relatively early on in her life and lost any friends or family she might have had.

Think I'd be rather angry too. Haha.

I agree with all of the above. Plus I wonder if she was mad because their spell specifically called on her. She was dead, hopefully at rest/peace, and they disturbed her, brought her back into the world of fighting. Remember how Buffy felt in season 6 after her friends brought her back?

I never thought of it like that, I was of the opinion that Buffy went back in time to when the first slayer was alive.
As to why the first slayer was angry:
The evil was referred to as the First, and it got a capital F.
What a poxy wardrobe she had. Have a look at what Tara wore.
Her make up was nowhere near as good as Buffy's.
And who did her hair?

How much happier would she have been walking about on green grass, with flowers and trees everywhere. Instead of loads and loads of bloody sand everywhere she looked.

Not if I recall correctly. In the episode 'Intervention' Buffy goes on like a spirit quest and says to her 'It's a form. I am the guide.' I don't think it was really the first slayer, it was simply the form the guide used to speak with Buffy. It made sense to choose that form considering what her quest was about.

This. I agree; I don't think The First Slayer was jealous, but I definitely think she was angry that Buffy "broke the rules" and drew on more power than her own to fight Adam.

Someone stole her cheese. I would be really ticked off if someone stole my cheese...although I'd never eat American because it's not even real cheese. It's cheese product.

In all seriousness haha...I guess it had something to do with the fact that they used her "essence" without her permission, how rude! I never really gave her anger much thought, I was too wrapped up in the visuals and the fantastically accurate portrayal of dreams in that episode to give a kitty ;D

There is another way to look at this.
The first slayer was taught something along the lines of.... hunt demon, see demon, kill demon.
Then the first slayer meets Buffy who has made friends with vampires, and has slept with a vampire! And that her friends support her.
Buffy and her friends should thank their lucky stars that the first slayer was pretty ruddy useless at killing.

Get right down to it, when have we ever seen the First Slayer portrayed as anything BUT pi**ed off. If death was Buffy's gift, anger was the F S's curse. That and having a really appalling taste in makeup and wardrobe.

I always thought that the First Slayer was attacking the gang as if they were intruders. Willow, Xander and Giles were not Chosen as the Slayer, but the spell they used linked them with Buffy. Since the First Slayer was linked to Buffy's mind, as shown in her dream-like visions, the after effect of the spell that linked them allowed the First Slayer to attack them through Buffy's dreams.

I believe the First Slayer, not knowing any better, saw them as a threat and attacked them. It was most likely the first time a regular person had access to the Slayer's prophetic ability.

All the Slayer's technically are connected. Which is why Buffy could have dreams about past Slayer's in action. I think it really was the First Slayer, but I guess there's no way of knowing for sure.

Near the end of Season 7, we are introduced to the Guardians, who watched the Watchers and manufactured the axe that killed Caleb. What Buffy saw may have been a representation of the first slayer given by them to act as a guide for Buffy. The Guardians should have some place in all of this.
