Why wasn't Giles at the wedding?

Did you ever wonder why Giles wasn't at Xander and Anya's wedding? Well, there was a scene cut from the show that is in the Watchers Guide Volume 3. (I'm having lots of fun with it, LoL). So, here's what it says.


Giles's absence from the wedding was explained in an exchange between Willow and Dawn that had to be cut for time:

DAWN: "I thought Xander and Anya couldn't afford flowers."
WILLOW: "Giles sent 'em. Aren't they gorgeous?"
DAWN: "Yeah. I wish Giles was here."
WILLOW: "Me too. And I'm sure he'd much rather be here than fighting that nasty demon--"
DAWN: "Da-e-mon. In England, it's daemon."
WILLOW: "Daemon, too right. But Giles's got responsibilities. And so Anya and Xander have flowers. And flowers. And more flowers. Ooh, it's going to be so pretty."

Yeah I heard about that, I mean even if they had to cut out that scene a character could of said one line about Giles' flowers. Like at the end where they were discussing Anya being ditched Buffy could of said "I guess I'll have to call Giles and tell him his flowers were a waste" or something.

It sure would have cleared up some of the questions...like this one! Makes you wonder who actually does the editing...and are they paying attention?

That most certainly would have been nice.

I have always thought that in the deleted footage you always hear about.

No they couldnt. editing is done once its all filmed and everyones filming the next episode... :whatever:

I always wondered that to. They could have mentioned it in the next episode atleast. Someone could say it was a good thing Giles didn't come back when the wedding didn't happen, or something like that. He should have been there...He's been more of a dad to Xander then his real dad.

I pondered on this when I read through The Watchers Guide Volume 3, it would of been really nifty to hear one line which would of been comical but nothing was said.
