Why we can’t wait for the “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” reboot

I'm just curious when there will be a big crossover event with Riverdale.

There may not be. Riverdale is produced by the CW, who passed on the Sabrina project. Even though Netflix distributes it worldwide, I’m not sure if the two different “networks” would go a crossover.

“Right now, we’re not thinking about that,” Riverdale executive producer Jon Goldwater — who’s also the CEO of Archie Comics — told TVLine about a possible crossover ahead of the CW show’s PaleyFest panel last week. Goldwater admits he “would love it if they could figure out a way to cross over,” and doesn’t rule out a mention of Sabrina and her pals popping up in a future episode of Riverdale: “Going forward? You never know."

Being on two different networks won't stop it from happening. Will just take more time.

@Taake Poor Garfield! 😛

Garfield would blend in with the Alfs. I bet he'd be the Cats counter attack. Eating the Alfs from within the organisation. Smarter than the average kitteh

Sabrina The Teenage Witch cast a spell on its viewers and amassed a loyal following from its launch in 1996 up until it ended in 2000 . After “Charmed” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, now it’s Sabrina’s turn to make her grand comeback to our screens. Netflix will stream the reboot of this nineties classic, with an entirely new heroine and a darker outlook.

An iconic Nineties series
Sabrina The Teenage Witch was an adaptation of the comic strip with the same name, which explores the adventures of Sabrina Spellman, who discovers her magical powers on her sixteenth birthday. Raised by her aunts Hilda and Zelda and flanked by her black cat Salem, Sabrina charmed millennials with her madcap adventures.

A more somber outlook
Lee Toland Krieger’s reboot isn’t, however, following the lighthearted fun of the original – he’ll be sticking more to the dark and menacing feel of the comics. Written by Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the new series will try and adopt a move Buffy-esque atmosphere. Sabrina will have to navigate growing up as a young woman while trying to combat evil forces.

Who will play Sabrina Spellman?
After rumors circulated that Selena Gomez would be taking the lead role, Mad Men actress Kiernan Shipka has been announced. Aunt Zelda will be played by Miranda Otto (Homeland, The Lord of the Rings) and Aunt Hilda will be played by Lucy David (Wonder Woman). Salem, of course, will still be able to talk, and Sabrina’s boyfriend, Harvey Kinkle will be played by the actor, singer and composer Ross Lynch. Her best friend, Rosalind Walker, will be played by Jaz Sinclair, Wardell will be played by Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who), and Blackwood will be played by Richard Coyle.

When and where can we watch the reboot?
The new adaptation of Sabrina The Teenage Witch, newly named Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, will be available to watch on Netflix from October 26, with ten episodes set to be available and a second season already in the works.
him this sounds interesting did like Sabrina when it first was on but it was not buffy I did like Salem, his was my favourite on this series hope i is just as good in the reboot esp if it is going to be dark that said Buffy should not be messed with you cannot improve on the original no one else could play Tara or Willow except Amber Benson & Alyson Hannigan.

How is that a reboot? Having a cat and the leads character having the same name does not make a reboot. What's next, having a girl named Buffy playing the lead in Buffy Calling (Tru) ?
And if they do make a reboot called Buffy the Vampire Slayer how will this site react?

most would probably lose their sh...um minds. I for one would be excited
I'm a little excited to check this out. I kinda like the original show, I just like Melissa Joan Hart, but it's dated in the 90's, a bit like the early seasons of Buffy, so it's time for something new. The difference here, is that it is not a "reboot" of the show, but it's another adaptation of the comic character. I stopped watching Riverdale mid-season 2, but I mostly enjoy the show, so I'm gonna check out this new Sabrina show.

I read with horror about Alf eating our favourite black cat then saw about the TV trailer the Chilling adventures of Sabrina and my mind went to that special place where Sabrina ate Garfield.
I must get out more.

During a visit to the Vancouver set of Sabrina, I got a chance to get to know the three actresses playing the Weird Sisters, a trio of young witches created just for the TV show: Agatha (Adeline Rudolph), Dorcas (Abigail Cowen), and group leader Prudence (Tati Gabrielle). Advertised as a sort of Mean Girls-meets-The Craft group of bad witch teens, the Weird Sisters actually end up feeling a bit more like The Gifted’s Stepford Cuckoos. Much of what they say and do is in unison, reflecting their strange, otherworldly bond.

Even though the Weird Sisters are designed to be this creepy collective, going so far as to wear nearly identical Wednesday Addams dresses, they do have traits that set them apart from each other. After all, they’ve had time to establish their personalities, since they’re not technically teenagers. According to Gabrielle, witches who’ve signed their souls over to Satan age much slower than mortals, so they’ve had time to mature more than the average 16-year-old.

Prudence is the de facto leader of the group, on a mission to destroy Sabrina while dealing with her own internal conflicts. Dorcas is a bit more “dreamy,” lost in her own world. And Agatha is the truly devilish one. “Agatha, in my opinion, is probably the most purely evil of the three,” said Rudolph. “She genuinely just enjoys torturing Sabrina and mortal boys, and a lot of her actions don’t necessarily have a certain—she just likes to torture, there’s not necessarily a reason for it.”

I don't even care anymore if Salem is in it at all actually, it's pretty clear that's its going to be a completely different show, so a comedic talking cat might be a bit tonally off with what they're going for.

Nothing can beat original Salem anyway <3

Yes, but an evil black cat whispering Satan's words could be really interesting. They have already said there will be a talking Salem cat... but I bet it will be nothing like the original.
