Why we love Angel

I love him because he hasn't shame of anything 😉

How do I love Angel? Let me count the ways ...

-I love that he cares so much, that he admires humanity so much and that he truly tries to do right by people
-I love that he's a gigantic dork who cries at the ballet (when he was evil) and loves the feel of freshly laundered clothes
-I love his deadpan sense of humour
-I love his crazy over-protectiveness
-I love how petty he is ("You know I started it, the whole 'having a soul' thing")
-I love that he makes breakfast for his staff
-I love that he loves his son so much he would let the world burn for him
-I love that he has a true darkness in him which he struggles every damn day to keep in check
-I love that he's an isolated character who actually flourishes when he's surrounded by people
-I love that he rescues puppies
-I love that he broods
-I love that he's intellectual to the point of being a gigantic snob about it
-I love that he genuinely wants to make the world better

I just love Angel so much.

I love Angel because he is inspiring to me. The fact that he falls, fails and always gets up to fight is an inspiration itself. He never gives up and will always fight for good even if in the great scale of life it doesn't matter. That's what makes him a hero for me!

Perfectly said :)
1. He suffers unfairly
Is this a compliment? Maybe not, but it is essential context for understanding Angel's character. It makes me sympathise with him.
2. He tries to do good, even if it's ultimately futile
BtVS portrays a universe that is for the most part ordered. Good deeds are usually rewarded, bad deeds are punished and evil can be defeated. "There is only one thing on this Earth more powerful than evil, and that is us." Conversely, AtS portrays a godless universe where Angel must struggle against impossible odds without any promise that anything he does will matter in the long run. Rather than despair, Angel finds strength in the preciousness of small victories.
3. When he tries to do the impossible
Angel is willing to beat his head against a wall to achieve the impossible. Examples of this are his attempts to cure Darla's syphilis and his attempt to free Cordelia from her visions.
4. He saved Faith
During Five by Five, there could not have been any character in the 'verse that would have taken a second to mourn Faith's death, except Angel. I really love that he was willing to save her when no one else would.
5. He's a pretty-boy
...especially in S2 of BtVS.

I love that Angel is willing to fight for what he believes, even if it goes against what everyone else believes. He is a man of the belief that everyone has a chance at redemption, and I admire that about him.

There are many instances where people had given up on someone (Faith, Darla) and Angel still fought for them. That's admirable and makes him a champion of the people who need a hero most.

Oh, and I love his terrible early season velvety, shiny wardrobe 😛 so adorable!
