Why?

I know you will probably not like this question but I was wondering why you cannot advertise other forums on here..

Yours isnt the only one out there and I think we all need to stick together regarding linkage etc...

So why so against other forums, don't you like the competition or something????

This is something that we have practiced since day one. Yes we are not the only forum out there, there are dozens probably even hundereds, and we are certainly not against people finding them of their own accord.

However, as this is our site, which takes up a large amount of our time (outwith or studies and jobs) we want it to succeed and our members to enjoy it, and providing links to other forums which are similar to ours takes the shine off it. Its basically saying here is what we have done now go and visit another site. As I said members are free to find them on their own, they are readily available via search engines and other methods.

We do all links to sites, actual sites not forums.

I'm sorry but this is our position on it. And not to worry your question was not taken as a dig at all.

I do actually understand in a way where you are coming from, I run my own forum and I know how much time, effort and money it costs to actually keep it running, so on that score you have my upmost respect..

I do however now that from past experience members like to show off their forums too and in my opinion I think that when you have the kind of member count that both yourself and I do you need not really worry about other forums...

I like to post at other forums as a normal member less hassle of being admin and it's fun I must say, but it can cause me too see things in a different light at times which is sometimes a bad thing LOLOL

I mean the question to me would be if I don't allow people to show off their forums how can I expect them to let their members show them mine, you can't really can you and I have found that the best way to get great members is from links from other forums 😉

But I respect admin's choice and will agree to disagree on this one, hope to have fun here regardless 🙂

Just wanted to add that's it's not really about preventing our members from knowing about or visiting another board. It's more about respect - I wouldn't go to another buffy board and post or put a link in my sig to this board, and so I don't think it's too much to ask to have the same courtesy shown back to us.
