Why'd the Title Change?

Question: How come the font that displayed the name "Buffy" in the opening credits went from this:

i believe the story behind all the changes is that the title just wasnt looking good. im glad they kept changing it because i love the way it looks now.

Maybe because it looks more professional and gothic, it goes well with the theme of the program

Changes like that aren't all that unusual. Once upon a time (back when TV shows were usually allowed to run more than half a dozen episodes,) the opening sequences often changed between seasons.

The first one was alright, but it was kinda "girly". I am glad that they changed the logo.

I think about that stuff to.. being into typography.
I really like both, the second one has become really iconic. So glad they changed it from the pilot.

I think the first one fit the girliness that Buffy had going on in season 2. However in like season 3 onwards she seems to be slowly realizing that being the Slayer is her, not a seperate part of her, and she starts to mature generally as well.
The new font kinda matched that whole growing-up-gothic-kick-ass thing.


Plus it's prettier. Haha.

Eeeek. Ya I don't like that one. I love the latest one. Suits the show. The theme. First one did look kind of sloppy.

The first one suits the film more than the show. Very high school bimbo chicken scrawl. It screams 'do not take me seriously!'

Who knew a font could say so much!

Normally when credits change its for the worse. Like Alias Season 4, i'm not a fan of the altered credits and prefer the first ones. But in this case the second (or third as the case may be) is far more better.

Is it me or does the first image look like it was drawn via an etch -a- sketch?
