Why was Buffy being so mean to Xander in "Into The Woods"? I know she was mad at Riley, but that was no excuse to take it out on Xander. He didn't do anything.

Xander had his moments of being mean to Buffy, so Buffy gave Xander a mean moment!

When was Xander mean to Buffy? Oh, yeah, now I know. LoL. With Angel stuff, right?

Allycat: Huh?

She was just angry with everyone because Riley was leaving just like Angel did and she was angry at Riley for doing that, and also for him not telling her about his feeling, angry at herself for not noticing it sooner, and mostly because another relationship failed for her. Under all that stress, she had to lash out and Xander was there more than most...

She's never really lashed out at anyone before, that's why I found it a bit odd.

I think Allycat posted in the wrong the thread😛😉

Xander was mean with Buffy a lot of times(Becoming,Selfless,Dead man's party,6.18,Revelations,Amends <can't remember the name>,etc),...anyway,I see your point Parker,I think she was wrong

I think she could have been mean to him..He is her friend and sometimes friends have to put up with things like that...

I'm with you all on that one, how many of us have been seriously pissed, when someone comes along at the wrong time. But Xand knew what he was up against, he kinda gives her a metaphorical slap on the booty, She see's the error of her ways, even if it is a bit to late.

I have decided to move into the woods into my top ten, it is a great episode. watched it last night, the little Xander speech at the end, great!

So I'm the only one who takes out my anger on the cause of the anger? *feels alone*

She was angry at everyone, so she did take out her anger on the cause of anger, lol. If Anya had been there, Buffy would've probably been angry at her, too!

I dont think she was being mean.
She wanted space, and when you've got someone bugging you like that, it really doesnt help.
But at the same time, I understand Xander was trying to do the right thing, bless his little cotton socks...

'Fraid so, mon frer. Otherwise everyone would wander around all day flogging themselves and kicking themselves in the ass, with occasional time-outs to berate their loved ones and insult authority figures like bosses and teachers who generally react quite poorly to insults.

I think Xander kind of deserved it...
I love Xander...but I've always thought he was the most self-righteous character on Buffy...you know...besides Buffy...
Remember in "When She Was Bad"...when Xander blames Buffy...that if she "had only worked with us for five seconds, you could've prevented this"...and he basically threatens Buffy's life if Willow is hurt...because he got it into his head that he has "earned" some sort of right to fight by Buffy's side...that he and the others had a "right" to go along with her to save Cordy...Xander has always believed he has a "right" to everything...I don't know...that has always annoyed the hell out of me...
I think the time I've wanted to jump into the screen and slap Xander across the face...was in "Dead Man's Party"...when Xander just steps in and yells at Buffy...somehow under the impression that what goes on between Buffy and Joyce is his business....that really pissed me off....probably because I never blamed Buffy for leaving...
And anyway...I didn't even agree with what Xander said to Buffy anyway...her and Riley's break up was Riley's fault..due to his own insecurities...and Xander was trying to convince her it was her own...
Grrr...
Sometimes I can't stand Xander...yet I love him all the same...oh the woes of being a BTVS/ATS fan....

Not really remembering this episode too much, but usually Xander noses in other people's business and tries to make it his. It can be annoying and I can see why people would end up snapping one day and either yelling at him or hitting him really hard to let him know that many things that go on are personal and that he isn't involved.
