Wild at Heart Commentary

Ok another one I already posted on facebook (I promise I wont be recycling for long!).

I recently watched all the episodes with the commentary, and was surprised that I actually enjoyed it, normally I dont like to watch stuff with the commentary on, but having watched every episode a billion times it seemed like a good idea.

Anyway it was brought to my attention that on wild at heart there is commentary by seth, joss and marti, and in australia we dont get that! I was so annoyed! so I was just wondereing if any of you have watched it, and could tell me if anything funny, insightfull or interesting was said?. On facebook I got alot of promises to watch the ep then report back to me, but nobody came through!

hey IMBB! its really cool to know that someone is doing the same thing that i am! right now im on season 7 disc 2 of the commentaries.

anyway, back to the topic.....

i have seen the commentary for wild at heart and there are several great things mentioned by seth, marti and joss.

1. seth pointed out that he spend most of season 4 naked (in the jail with veruca, in the jail with the initiative, etc.). that was funny.

2. joss and seth pointed out that the actress who played veruca had her boyfriend on the set the day they shot the scene with her and seth naked together. seth said it was very awkward.

3. i dont remember if it was joss or marti, but someone mentioned how great of an actress alyson h. is....but more specifically in the scene where seth is sitting with veruca for lunch, then willow comes in, the seth leaves. joss/marti said that the expressions on her face were perfect.

4. seth pointed out that in the naked scenes, he and veruca were wearing skin-colored clothing over their private areas.

I enjoyed that ep's commentary. It was much more lively than the others, IIRC. A few of the commentary tracks were dull, e.g. the ep just after Faith kills the Dep. Major.

I love commentaries! OK, not all of them are great. Far from it, but as a whole I love them. It do seem how ever that I don´t have this one either. Why can´t we have the same extras? It´s unfair! :mad39:

I'm from Aus as well so I didn't get the Seth Green commentary either, but I've watched most of them and they all seem a little dull to be honest, I just wish that the people doing the commentary would sit down and think a bit more about what they have to say. Whenever they pause for ages I start really getting into watching the episodes and then don't want to listen to the commentary. I wonder why commentaries are never scripted?

I dont think its on the chosen collection, just the regular dvds but obviously not all of em! what a jip!. The only other dvd Ive ever watched with the commentary is Stephen King's It, I practically worship the ground that man walks on, I could probably read his grocery list and be enthraled! lol.
It was kinda sad, John Ritter was on it, and it must have been just before Johnathan Brandais (sp?) died. If your a fan of the movie you'll get a kick out of the fact that they said they actually made buttons that said "kiss me fat boy!" on them, lol. And it was nice to hear John talk about how happy he is that Seth Green is doing so well for himself.

Stephen King's It... John Ritter was on it

It has been ages since I saw that movie (granted any book that I like by him I tend to avoid the movie) but I forgot Ritter was in that. Good call there wabbit. I remember the Walton cat, but forgot about Ritter.

I actually watch all the commentaries on Buffy and Angel, you find out good little bits of info on them you wouldnt get elsewhere.

There was only one that I could not watch. Forget whom the commentary was but the cat was really stuffy. It was the episode after Faith killing the cat and the guy is talking about set design etc. It just felt like such a chore even to only listen. Didnt seem like he talked as much as drone.

Oh yeah, i agree, theres definetly some that are just bad at it. The best ones ive noticed are Joss, Doug Petrie and Jane Espenson. They seem to have more enthusiasm and input, and you can get caught up in what they are saying. And also, this suprised me but, David Boreanaz was very good at his commenary on Soul Purpose, just like the others i mentioned he was keeping it going at a good pace and saying interesting, relevant stuff.
Its the ones like Steven Deknight and David Fury that tend to bore.

I love the commentaries, often have a hard time deciding if I should listen to the commentary or not and watch the episode twice instead.
An episode like Restless I have seen more times with the commentary than without, Joss does a great work there.

Would love to know where I can find a DVD with the Wild at Heart commentary.
It's extremely annoying and weird that they left it out, can't understand why.

I admit I've never made it through an ENTIRE commentary eppy. I just get bored I guess. But I have watched *some* of nearly all the commentaries.

There's one commentator--it might be Tim Minear--who is all "Oh, look, this is the part where this happens! And this is what happens in this scene!" and I think, "I CAN SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING! Tell me something I DON'T know! Grrrr."

There was one commentary I remember, It had Mere S....Sm...Smith? And...er, someone else. It was an Angel ep. With Darla in it. When she was preggers.


Ok, when I said remember perhaps I was stretching the truth a little. Anyway, the two worked really well together, and even though it wasn't the most informative of commentaries, it was extremely entertaining.

The best commentaries I have ever heard though were on The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions. Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens were absolutely wonderful together. Really packed full of interesting little trivia and minutae too. The Rocky Horror Picture Show one with Richard O'Brien and Patricia Quinn was also great, mainly because of his relentless flirting and pointing out every time she was showing any flesh!

I tend to like the commentaries with the actors more. Like on conversations wit dead ppl, dirty girls (damn nick brendon IS xander!), and lies my parents told me. On Angel, Spin the Bottle, Destiny, Your Welcome and Soul Purpose are all good. I enjoy Joss and Doug Petrie commentary as well, although I got over Doug saying on every commentary that he wishes his name appeared in neon and the letters wiggled around etc. it was kinda funny the first time then it was just like ahhh shut up!. As for David Fury I dont mind him, he clearly has a total man crush on Spike! which I actually find suprising, Id heard that he was so violently against Spike showing a softer side and the relationship with buffy that he pretty much got shipped off to Angel during season 6. I guess I was mis-informed.
