Will & Grace Revival

I just binged the first 4/5 episodes of this new show, 11 years after S8 ended, and it was absolutely as hilarious and awesome as it was back in the day. I was just wondering if anyone else had gotten into it and what ya'll thought about it?

I love the mixture of old and new with the theme melody, the return of all those old fan favorite characters, and that the chemistry between the main four is still as electric as ever. I already have a favorite episode, but I won't give too much away so if you haven't seen it yet and want to, don't press on the spoilers below 🙂

I almost cried in the episode where Jack meets his grandson, who turns out to be gay, too, and he has to tell him to always be himself, no matter what anyone else says. And when he said he chose his own family, gods... just such an important message, if you ask me.

Though I've seen Will and Grace, I was never able to binge it because it's not on Netflix and was before my time. But I enjoyed enough of what I saw that I thought I might check out the revival. This good review is very helpful. I'll definitely watch now.

I love binging it, lol, I have all 8 seasons on dvd and often I'll just put it in the background while I'm on my computer, cause I know it so well.

And yeah, you should check out the revival. They make a point in the first episode to remind viewers of where they are and where they were in the eight season, so I don't even think you need a re-watch to get back into it.

It remains as funny and as relevant and important as it was back in the day, imo.

I love sitcoms, and this is a good one. I've watched the first four or five episodes of the new season and it's as fun as I remember. I'm a bit of a fan of Debra Messing and follow her on twitter.

It has been a little bit cheesy, with both Karen and Jack have scenes with kids, teaching hem how great it is just to be yourself etc. etc. But it's still funny so I give it a pass on the sentimentality.

I haven't seen the original in years. Can't imagine it has aged well. It is not as if I did not like it, but I am kinda surprised there is so much buzz for it.

From the time of ABC's "Soap" in 1977 until Ellen de Generis came out in 1998, there had been no homosexual characters other than a few dotted here and there (like Larry Blaisdell in Buffy) but Will and Grace was the first show to have a gay leading cast member. It started in the same time slot as Ally McBeal and Monday Night Football but after getting 10.9 million viewers per episode, it got moved to the desirable Thursday 9:00 PM time slot. By now, there have been enough gay characters on TV shows (like Willow and Tara) that the novelty will have worn off and they will have to succeed on comedy writing alone. The original program did succeed. A new set of writers may still be able to do it, but it's all a roll of the dice now.

Well so far I personally feel that they are hitting the nail on the head again, it feels like it picked up right where it left off as far as writing and acting and comedy goes.

I used to LOVE Will and Grace, so I'm really keen to watch this, but I don't think it has a UK broadcaster yet. 🙁 Hopefully Channel 4 will pick it up, they love the Will & Grace re-runs.

I watch the first few episodes of the ninth season (the cast looks damn good) and I just HAD to rererewatch the first 8 seasons. So now I'm at s02 and man, it's awesome.

Just watched ep 5 with the wonderful Beverley Leslie wanting to come out to his 90 year old wife, with Karen's help. What's not to love. Just as funny as always 😀

I'm LOVING the new season of Will & Grace. I loved the episode where Will goes on a date with the young dude, Blake, and they share coming out stories. Then Will goes on to explain why the history of allies, such as Madonna, was so important. Even though I'm still pretty young myself, I related more to Will, especially when I hear the way some baby gays talk these days about what offends them but actually how easy they have it in comparison to the past.
