Wesley is the only major characters that is dead at the moment, who is pretty explicitly not off to a resting place. I believe he's still an undead slave to Wolfram & Hart as of the After the Fall finale, so do you think he'll appear in BS9?

my comment was in reference to how you started off ur post saying "wesley is the only major character thats dead"
Yea dude, watch out putting spoilers in your thread title next time...

OMG I hope so!!!

But what happened in the After the Fall finale? Why is Wesley an undead slave to W&H?

And is AtF worth reading? Better than Buffy season 8?

Oh yea Emily, I really liked AtF comics! Personally, I think that they are better than s8. They are more like the original Angel tv show was. 🙂

Cool. I should read them, then. :D
Please no. It's just people have to stay dead! (weird disclaimer). Personally I think he shouldn't have died at all. Not after Fred and Cordy. That's like: enough with the close to each other deaths, and if they are dead, keep 'em this way! Unless it's Buffy, who has to keep living or there wouldn't be "Buffy", who wants "Buffy" without Buffy? (let go of the Buffy Summers' hatred, you know it's true!) And Spike I hope will never die (again) because I love him and can't live without him.

I most certainly hope not. I think that Joss has used the "back from the dead." and the "can't be held responsible because I was under the influence of an evil power" trump cards just about as many times, and more, as could in any way be considered good writing form. We've had major characters either sent to hell dimensions, put in comas, or outright died, only to come back, good as new or even improved, plus characters who have, in some fashion either been seduced over to the Dark Side or possessed by some evil entity so many times that it has just about become predictable.

As much as I would like to see Jenny, Joyce, Anya, Cordy. or even Doyle brought back, there has to be a point at which you just have to let the dead stay dead, and that includes Weslewy, as much as I liked the character. I wouldn't mind some sort of story in which his soul is somehow released from its eternal obligation to W&H, but he's dead, and he should stay that way.

I think Joss takes a good advantage of the fact that it's a fantasy series. And in the comics he makes it clearer, does whatever he wants (as a fantasy show) and in the comics what he wants plus the freedom that it's comics and there are many things he can do with it that he couldn't do in television. To me, it ruins Buffy a little bit. He can't have too much freedom. Oh alcohol when he writes.

I got the impression that Wes is still very much contracted by W&H, so it is certainly a possibility.

Although, if he was going to resurrect anyone I want it to be Cordy. What I would give for her and Buffy to sit down and talk. Or see her and Xander interact again.

*sigh* I miss Cordy.

aww me too I would love Cordy to come back and an intereaction between her Buffy or Xander would be awesome.

Now if Cordy came back I think I would have to rush out and by the comics.

I want Cordy to be ressurected too, the show wasn't the same without her.

Miss Cordy :(

I just got a great idea for a cliff hanger ending for Season 8. Buffy and her crew are just about to lose the battle. Angel prepares to do a kamikaze sacrifice to save the day, there's suddenly a huge explosion of energy and all the bad guys vaporize, leaving Higher Being Cordy standing, fists on hips, patting foot and looking thoroughly pi**ed off.

Cordy: Will you guys PLEASE quit dorking around with this trivial apocalypse crap? We've got some REAL trouble heading this way. (Then she faces Angel and gets REALLY mad) As for you, mister (Grabs him by the ear and starts dragging him away like a little boy who's been caught doing something bad) Twilight? I'm gonna SHOW you twilight, and all the stars that come after it.

Leaving everybody else standing looking confused.

(Fade to black)

(Betyou thought that I was gonna slip something Spuffy in there, didn't you?)

Need to hear the Spuffy part. Now! Nice idea btw.
I always had the impression that Joss killed Wesley only because the show was ending and he wanted to push all buttons at the end.

When I was watching Dollhouse, the episode with Alexis gave me the impression that Joss isn't done with Wesley and Faith's story and was, in a way, recreating in the the scene when Echo and the senator have to cut the tracking devices out of their bodies. The scene was shot as an erotic experience.

So I think there is a possibility of Joss resurrecting Weslety. He hasn't done with him yet.

Wow, I need to watch Dollhouse!

Erotic and Alexis in the same sentence? I suddenly want to watch Dollhouse :D

Alexis is in Dollhouse?
I'm confused- what "spoiler" is the OP revealing? I mean, we're talking about season 9 here, & season 5 of Angel aired years ago. It's not exactly a newsflash that Wesley died in NFA. And if it is, well then maybe people shouldn't be reading a forum about Season 9.

If you haven't finished the series yet, you venture on to the internet at your own risk.

That is exactly the reason.

I know, I know, it's wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt, but...

The cancellation of the show was the inspiration for Wesley's death; Whedon gave Denisof the option of keeping the character alive, but Denisof believed killing the character was right for the story, "It was very upsetting to read. It's too good a story because it hurts."

Yea. I'm sure I read Joss saying that if the show had not ended with that season, Lindsey & Wesley wouldn't have been killed!

As far as I know, you don't write a spoiler in a topic title. I've been warned for that before. And when you check 'unread posts', you will see threads titles. So weither or not you check the s9 section is of no consequences. I stick by what I first said. 😛 No offense though. Just watch out next time!

So, if we stick by that rule, we shouldn't write "What do you think about Tara's death" in a thread title, or "Buffy's death in the Gift- sacrifice or suicide?" (actual thread titles). Right?

Honestly, that's what I thought was the rule. But I guess it only concerns present storylines? Or these threads you're mentioning are not right either? I'm guessing the former since this thread's title wasn't changed yet. 😛 If it's the case, my bad BV Fan!

Board rules (C&P from the FAQ page):
1. If there is a thread that has spoilers in it, please mark the thread title with the Spoilers! thread prefix or insert SPOILERS in the thread title somewhere. Please do not include spoilers in thread titles as people using the “New Posts” feature will see them. You may also use spoiler tags in your posts:

.

2. Anything from the current season of the Whedonverse shows not yet aired in the US is considered a spoiler, as well as info about unpublished comics and novels (but please try and be kind to those who might not have read things the day they came out, and not give away major spoilers). [italics mine]
