Will there be a season 9?

How about Buffy doesn't defeat Twilight, her best friend turns against her, the future can't be changed, Buffy is driven into exile in a hell dimension, and the slayer line is wiped out?

I like to stay positive. 😉

Whatever happens, and no matter how many surprise people get killed off in the meantime, I just can't see Joss ended the series (again) on a bad note. Just doesn't seem like it'd happen. I would love Buffy to continue on in different forms for a very long time, but I also want the quality to stay awesomely high. We all know that there are so many TV shows that just lose their edge and I hate that. On the other hand, when Buffy ends I want it to end for good, I don't want there to be a movie, or another comic book season, or a dodgy spinoff that I watch because once a season there's a cameo from a real Buffy star.
So, at the end of the day, I guess I wouldn't be able to make up my mind even if it was up to me, so probably better to leave it in the hands of a much smarter human being... Joss Whedon.

Yes but I think the final end could be a trilogy of Movies of a T.V. Mini series. The real problem for this is getting the cast together and getting the finance. Even so that would be the best ending for the Buffy / Angel stories.

I think that SMG and David Boreanaz could be persuaded if someone was prepared to put up the financing for a trilogy of Movies or a T.V. mini-series that Joss Whedon had full creative control over.

Now as the Season 8 comic books will not be finished until mid 2010 and we would not likely see a Season 9 comic book series start until 2011 (depending on how sucessful Dollhouse is). That gives time for decisions to be made. Also the shortened Season 9 comic book series could be converted into a movie/mini-series.

I am not saying this is likely to happen but it is possible. As I said it depends on the cast and the financing.

The gap in time doesn't have to mean Buffy and hers are faring bad. In fact, I think it might mean they're faring very well and there just won't be many apocalyptic threats for them to squash. Season 9 might be about the last few (thousand) of the strongest demons who are all near-extinct joining forces to put up a final fight.

Yeah, but I'm just afraid that they'll be opposed by a bunch og out of shape middle aged Slayers, especifically if Buffy screwed up the Slayer progression system and no new Slayers have been called since Sunnydale.
To White Avenger:- ↑↑ I don't think it is going to jump that far in time. I expect it will jump from 2004/05 (when season 8 is supposed to be set) to 2010/11 when season 9 is probably going to be out. This means that Buffy & Co will still be in their late 20's.
