I don't know if I could find it again, but I did see one who got an AI girlfriend just to start arguments with her. And they would argue, just without the profanity and thrown dishes.

Just because we don't need a job anymore doesn't mean it will go away. Unions and such are powerful things, as are bureaucracies that want their fees from taxes, license, registration, and whatever other excuse they can think of. While I've heard of doctors that pretty much just use AI (being no more than a glorified nurse, and I expect many could enter the same info as the doctor), there are a lot of schools who want their student loans paid off, and even Wall Street might hesitate to cut out the middle men since some of those loan repayments go to them.

I bet AI could do a lot better job of educating kids than most schools, especially as adapted to each individual child rather than to the "average." But who will babysit then? (I'd say socialization, but I think schools do more harm than good in this regard anyway, and the experience with social media seems to be a reflection of school socialization, even for adults.)

I am curious how things will look when the dust settles (I've heard an argument that we're almost cyberpunk already, just without the aesthetic).
