Willow could've done so much better than Kennedy. She could've gone for someone nicer, someone more humble, some one who didn't skive off going to the desert with the other potentials yet is full of her own self-importance that she feels she can boss the other potentials around and bully one. Kennedy needed a serious attitude adjustment.
5 reasons why I hate Kennedy:
1. She initiated the mutiny which resulted in Buffy being kicked out her own house, all because she wanted a bigger say.
2. She bullied Chloe which helped contribute to Chloe committing suicide. When the First can practically say "you helped cause this" WITHOUT lying, there's a problem.
3. She rounds on Willow whenever Willow sticks up for Buffy or looks like she's going to stick up for Buffy. She has no respect for Willow's feelings.
4. She skived off going to the desert with the other potentials, all so she could trick Willow into a date, then acts like she's so much better than the other potentials.
5. She looks down her nose at Buffy.
Kennedy has no redeemable characteristics in Season 7. As a redshirt, she might've been tolerable (particularly when she died as redshirts are prone to do) but as an actual love interest for Willow, she was the worst. What were te writers thinking?

Well the plan was always to try to redeem her. That's why we need Blaze. 😉 But Blaze hasn't agreed (and to be honest we've not actually asked her!) but maybe one day we'll do it and we'll just let Blaze do all the work while we get really drunk. Best. Episode. EVER! 😀

Nobody hates Kennedy for not being Tara, most people hate her because she's Kennedy. 😛
As long as I get to also be drunk!
Short list of Kennedy redeemable characteristics:
-loves Willow
-Brave
-Speaks her mind
-Not a sheep
-Can actually think for herself unlike many other characters
-Really supportive of her girlfriend even when she's not into the same stuff as her
-Actually wants to save the world
-Confident
-She actually has a playful personality unlike a lot of the other cardboard characters we got (cough Riley cough)
-She's totally a ride or die girlfriend. Heck, she wasn't even Willow's girlfriend yet and she was willing to do whatever was necessary to help her
-Intuitive
-Not afraid to be herself
-She's comforting when she needs to be
-Recognizes her flaws
-Willing to compromise to make the relationship work (seen in the comics)
-Takes the time to spend some alone time with her girlfriend during the apocalypse
-Sexy

Kennedy definitely considers Willow's feelings. That's basically all she does! In the Killer in Me, does Kennedy just pounce on Willow? No, she takes her on a nice date and what do they do? Talk about their feelings! Like two grown adults should. In Touched, before they have sex for the first time, what do they do, talk about their feelings again! Kennedy listens about all of Willow's concern, instead of just being pushy or disregarding her. She comforts her, but also doesn't dismiss her. In Chosen, once again, Willow talks about her fears to Kennedy and Kennedy listens and comforts her. I don't get how any more supportive and loving she could be. Kennedy isn't perfect, but she's a pretty great girlfriend when it comes to listening to her partner.
Hard headed and opinionated, I really don't see how those are flaws. It's nice to see a character that doesn't let others dictate their life. Kennedy was thrown into this crazy world, she has every right to be opinionated when her life, and the lives of others, is in the balance. Sometimes she might be wrong, but so were all the other Scoobies at some point or another. Live and learn, live and learn.
I don't think Kennedy ever had a go at Willow. I also think Kennedy was right in s7, Buffy was an awful leader for most of it. And Kennedy comes in at a point where she doesn't own anything to Buffy, so of course she's not just gonna blindly follow her. We do see again though in Chosen how Kennedy has admiration for Buffy, and even agrees with her during her discussion with Willow. I actually think that neither Buffy not Kennedy had anything really against the other, they were both just two strong headed individual voicing their opinions. But at the end of the day, Kennedy supported the cause, and Buffy surely didn't seem against the idea of Willow dating Kennedy, so I have a feeling she didn't hate her nearly as much as many make it sound. Buffy also put Kennedy somewhat in charge of the potential, and Kennedy was always top of the squad when it came to the battles, so Buffy surely had a lot of respect for Kennedy and her skills, even if they didn't always agree.
lol. So just because Kennedy didn't do the training in the desert it means that she doesn't wanna save the world? Come on now that's just reaching. Buffy was WAY worst in her highschool years when it came to training, she gave Giles quite the hard times over the years. Kennedy actually embraces the slayer life. Just cause she also wanted to have a personal life for one moment doesn't diminish that in the very least.
Whether wanted or not, Kennedy has every right to voice her opinion, especially because it can be life or death for her. I like that so much better than a character like Riley who just says Yes ma'am to everything.
It's not just Riley, it's true that he really is Captain cardboard. But beyond that, I really enjoy Kennedy's flirty personality. And before you even say it, no I don't think Kennedy ever crosses any lines, she's actually really respectful when it comes to that. But it's nice to see a character, especially a lesbian character, flirt a bit and be playful like she is. She definitely did not pester Willow until she gave in. Even when they first kiss, Kennedy gives Willow an out, it's very clear what she's about to do, and she pauses before kissing her, if Willow wanted out, she definitely would have been able to. There's absolutely no way Willow was forced into that relationship, and I find it a bit offending to insinuate that she was, considering it was one of the most consensual relationship on the show, especially put in comparison with many of the dubious consent relationships that we saw on the show.
What she did with Chloe was wrong, and Kennedy paid the price. But SO many of the other characters do much worst, and always without consequences. But for some reason Kennedy gets all the flack for one mistake. Yes, it was a big one, but how come no one is putting the responsibility on all the other characters who messed up big time during the show.
Her behaving awfully is really only your opinion. I don't think she ever behaved awfully. She could be a brat at times, like she said herself, but behaving awfully? Definitely not.
And come on, that last one? You're just reaching now. Willow and Kennedy were sharing a room with 10 other girls. Saying that they didn't wanna spend time with Kennedy is irrelevant, and a pointless dig. My point is, Kennedy organised a special night for Willow, who really needed it at that time.

@Blaze I could argue your points but I'd just be repeating myself over and over. Aside from the reasons I listed above for my dislike of Kennedy, I think the main reason I dislike her is her personality. Kennedy had quite an abrasive personality and is the type that would easily rub people up the wrong way. She came in halfway through Season 7, the final Season, but she is the type of person who the audience has to get to know before shipping becomes an option. Kennedy did not get any of that. She comes in as a brat and she remains a brat throughout the rest of the show. Why the hell would Willow go for someone like that? She wouldn't but there was obviously a rush to have Willow end the show in a relationship. Kennedy needed to be humbled before she got with Willow but she never was so essentially the show had her being a bitch and then being rewarded for it. We never see any remorse from her over what she did to Chloe. We never see her expressing any guilt for her actions, even if another character then tells her not to blame herself. We never see any vulnerability from Kennedy. If the bratty persona had been revealed to be a front, and the real Kennedy was actually a scared girl who doesn't want to die then maybe she would be more tolerable. As it is, she comes across as a poor man's Cordelia but with none of Cordelia's redeeming features.
Kennedy is the type of character that needs bedding into the show before they become part of the Scoobies. Other characters had to go through that right of passage such as Anya and Tara (even Spike had Season 4 before he became a pseudo Scooby), Kennedy got to skip all that just because she's sleeping with Willow. She's suddenly included in Scooby meetings, she's inserting and asserting her opinion over the established Scoobies, etc. There is a sense that Kennedy just gets everything handed to her and does nothing to earn her place in the Scooby gang.
Fred would've been a better choice of relationship after Tara because, not only would that then make Fred a Bi character, but also Fred has earned her stripes over on Angel. Willow could've hooked up with her in AtS Season 5 if they decided to take Spike AND Willow across.
