Willow and Xander, the gay thing

It would have made more sense to be Xander. He was always making comments about other guys looks. Willow's response to 'check out those girls's legs' was 'no thank you'. Not to mention that Wishverse vampire Xander was 100% more gay than vampire Willow.

Wishverse Xander was so much into leather ! LOL .

No offense, but I don't get this at all. 😵 Vamp Xander seemed really into Vamp Willow. In my opinion, Whedon kind of painted himself into a corner when he started the show as he wrote all of his main characters as being straight. I haven't actually seen/read any interviews of Joss considering Xander. Regardless, by the time he considered having a gay character, it was already kind of too late. Probably would've just been easier adding a new Scoobie altogether. I'm guessing that he started thinking bout it in S3. Hence The Wish & Dopplegangland. I'm also guessing that by then they realized that they'd only have limited use of Seth going forward. So why not 'plant the seed' in S3 just in case. I think that quite a few of us are rather glad they did go that route. Although, in my opinion Joss & Co. dropped the ball by trying to write her as just lesbian. To me I will always see Willow as bi. Anyway, that's my 2¢.

I guess you missed the part where Willow and Xander enter the Bronze. There is a guy laying on a pool table and Xander lets his hand run over that guy's body. Also while he said he prefered to watch, it's not hard to imagine that Xander sometimes joined in on those torture/rape sessions. After all a lot of vampires we see seem to be bisexual. And threesomes are probably a regular occurance. Vamp Willow on the other hand was with Xander and raped Angel. And the only contact she had with a female, other than fighting Buffy, was a girl she ate.

That Willow would think of her vampire self as 'gay' doesn't surprise me because she came on pretty strong to Willow, including licking. But that doesn't make anyone gay. Vampires like to play with whomever and they don't neccesarily care about the sex of the person. That's just how they roll. But it was convenient to later use that as evidence of Willow's gay-ness.

And again in the real Scoobie world, Xander was constantly talking about other guy's bodies. From S1 on when he described Angel as 'buff'. I think he also talked about the physical attributes of the sports players in Sunnydale High. He also commented on Riley's and Spike's physiques if I remember correctly.

I'm glad they went with Willow over Xander just because I could see them making lame jokes about Xander's sexuality being an explanation for his lack of strength and fighting abilities.

So how do you explain his lack of strength & fighting abilities then😛 ?

I never thought about that before, but thats a very good point.

They did make a few jokes about Xander being slow thought .

All of the characters through out 1-3 were really straight haha. If anyone was going to eventually be in a relationship with a person of the same sex, I would have definitely said Faith, or even Buffy. But if he was going to go with either Willow or Xander, I believe they would have both worked out much the same way. Personally, I don't care which one it is. However, I do think either way whoever it was should have been bi. I never really believe Willow is all of a sudden disgusted at the thought of penis when she clearly was in love with Oz and enjoyed having sex with him, but whatever. Either way it was helpful to queer girls, but from a writing aspect, it wasn't the most logical way to go. Even Vamp Willow is bisexual, not gay.

So who would you pair up with Faith or Buffy then if they were going to be gay ?
And you think Willow is bi instead of gay then .

I can imagine Xander going gay and him having a scene with Faith (similar to the one with Wood in S7) where she gets pissed that he changed his mind about women even after sleeping with her. Said scene could take place in "Who Are You" -- it would be funny to watch SMG act out Faith's discomfort.

Well it is actually quite common for people to realise later in life that they are lesbian or gay. I have seen this happen with multiple people, this does not diminish the prior relationship they had, since sexuality is fluid. Personally, however, I interpret Willow as bi, since her relationship to Oz seemed very genuine and real to me. It would defintely sadden me if that suddenly wasn't seen as a real and meaningful relationship, because it was to Willow...and the audience.

That would be so funny & so like Xander to pick the worst moment to do that 😛

Agreed. Willow's relationship with Tara doesn't immediately discount her relationship with Oz. It's clear that Willow did identify as straight originally and since meeting Tara, she no longer identifies with being straight, but as for the classification of that sexuality, I think it's moot. She loved Oz, she loved Tara. It's not a chicken or fish decision, whereas you can't like both and have to choose one for the rest of your life. Her relationships with both were real and one doesn't diminish the other.

It annoys me when people do discount her relationship with Oz because "she's a lesbian now so she can't have loved him". You love who you love, regardless of gender.

Bingo! You love who you love, parts is parts.
I read somewhere where the person said " I not gay . I just love Lucy " and that what I believe. Willow loved
Oz but he left & Willow moved on . And the person she moved on to was Tara.

Oz is female. He offered to do the girly best friend thing with Buffy in "Living Conditions".
